Summary
After Neil finally stood up to his father and began to take care of his own mental health, Neil thought the worst was over. But that’s not how life works.
When Neil’s father unexpectedly comes back into his life and he watches his boyfriend, Todd Anderson, get sick, things all go to hell. Suddenly, all the progress that he’s made the past few years feels futile.
But this summer, things seem to be looking up. At least Neil hopes they are.Or alternatively, a modern day AU where Neil is still extremely in love with Todd, Todd is Going Through It, Charlie and Knox are the most nauseating couple, and Cameron really needs a boyfriend.

Summary
Neil Perry's goal of being a successful actor by the time he's 25 isn't working out. Instead, he's barley scraping by, working two jobs: one as a barista and another as a sex worker. He feels as though he's drowning in his incessant mood swings due to his bipolar disorder in addition to recovering from years of trauma that have happened to him. Honestly, Neil's thinking about going back home to his father to beg for his forgiveness, just to live somewhere where he isn't worrying about housing stability and where he knows where his next meal will come from, but then he meets a new client-- a Columbia student named Todd Anderson. He doesn't know how Todd is paying to keep him around, but as long as Neil can afford to survive, he doesn't really care. Things finally seem to be falling into place; at least, until Neil starts to fall for Todd.
Or, alternatively, a Modern Day New York AU where Neil is a bipolar, formerly Catholic sex worker who just wants to thrive, Todd Anderson is a well-off Protestant college student in love with writing, Charlie is a stripper who gives bad relationship advice, Meeks deals everyone's weed, fate works in mysterious ways, and the author writes a truly astounding amount of smut.

“Maybe we could come out together, one day,” Neil says, and there’s a tenderness in his voice that a more naive person would mistake for love. But not Todd. He’s not stupid. He lets Neil hold his hand for a moment longer, savors the feeling of the other boy’s thumb grazing his knuckles, before removing his hand, and responding in a detached, blase way:
“Yeah, maybe.”
The five times Todd almost comes out to Neil, and the one time he does.
