Tenna knew this was a bad idea from the get-go.
He’d really, really thought about saying no to the whole thing, several times, even thought about getting Spamton to turn his car around to drive him back to the studio to leave him behind; thought about leaving to catch the train when they’d pulled up to the nightclub called THE MOTHERBOARD, thought about it again when they went inside and the music echoed through the hollow parts of his casing.
He’d really been coming to enjoy their dynamic, the sex and the private dinners and the early mornings in his bed. It’d been a long time since he’d allowed himself to enjoy something so selfish, something that could take his attention away from his lightners. He – selfishly, his thoughts reminded him again – wanted to enjoy himself again, to take time for himself again. But this was too much. Too risky.
