Summary
Ed can’t help but grin. “What are you doing?”
“I’m plotting.”
“Just tell me—”
“No, you have to guess! I’m planning something in my head. You have to guess what it is.”
“Holy fuck. Is everything a game all the time with you?”
“Yes.” Stede answers, smiling.

Summary
The snow might be good. For all the intruders who might come find them, at least he’d be able to see where they come from. The birds are mostly gone, but the chickadees are loud enough to give warning. Ed’s rehearsed the fake battle in his mind so many times he can see it as a near memory.
or: the thoughts that karma might catch up with ed and stede at the inn are suddenly too much for ed to bear.

Summary
“ — leave me a message, and I’ll probably listen to it at some point. ‘Kay!”
There’s a moment of silence before the beep, and Stede wishes he could stretch it out. He loves Ed so much. So much. It’s just barely dark outside. Ed must be making dinner. Stede asked for pasta, earlier. Distantly, he wonders if the water’s boiling.
Something clarifies in Stede’s mind, slotting into place. He’d hate to ruin Ed’s meal. As the phone sharply beeps, Stede presses down harder on his stomach.
“Ed, darling,” He starts. He wants to cry. He thinks he might already be. Ed’s the darlingest man who has ever set foot on this earth. “I don’t think I’m going to be home— hmm.” His stomach hurts. “I don’t. I don’t think I’m going to be home in time for supper. I’m sorry. I just might be a little bit late. Sorry. I love you, Ed."

Summary
Ed is a parttime werewolf, full time coffee shop owner in a rainy seaside town, just trying not to self-destruct and ruin his whole life(again). Stede is a new vampire trying to come to terms with what he is by doing what he does best: running away. After an accidental meeting, their lives become entangled in impossible ways. This is a story about loving the monster, hating your parents, rival coffee shops, smoking too much on the porch at night, murder mysteries, the sacred nature of the perfect latte, summer in a small town, and how sometimes the scariest things are the ones we should run towards.
-
Giant, dark eyes are boring into Ed with an unsettling intensity. He’s got something soft about his face, offset by a sharpness almost everywhere else.
“What….the fuck?”
Ed's distantly aware of his own voice slurring into the rain. Maybe its the weed or he’s concussed from hitting his head, or maybe his survival instincts are in a more worrisome place than he thought - because the next step in his body’s plan was to bite and kick and scream, but he is struck by the singular understanding that this is a very, very beautiful man. In a weird, alien kind of way - but Ed's always been a sucker for that sort of thing.Bookmarked by captain_cappy

Summary
The day they get married, the things he knows about Stede could fit on a post-it note.
First: he’s fucking rich.
Second: he needs a husband to stay that way.
Third: he is built like a brick shithouse. Pretty eyes, nice hair. Penchant for weird socks.
(Or: 5 times Ed doesn't tell his husband he loves him, and 1 time he does.)

Summary
Ed lets himself think about it. Immerses himself in the candlelight flicker of it all, the steely glow of the moon through arched windows. The vulnerable peek of Stede’s throat under that black turtleneck, the shape of his back, his shoulderblades, the obscene curve of his waist, the radiating heat of him. The bed nook. He never got to sink inside Stede there, but his knife almost did.

Summary
Ed can be forgetful sometimes, Stede’s learnt that over the past few months. He doesn’t remember a lot of what happened in the time they were apart, which is understandable, as it must’ve been a very grisly time up in that head of his, and he often gets people’s names mixed up, but he remembers the important things. Like “you wear fine things well”, and how much butter Stede likes on his toast, and that Stede loves him.
He always remembers that Stede loves him.
(or: After an accident at the inn, Ed can't remember his relationship with Stede. This is how they figure it out together.)
