Summary
A glance through the door’s peephole made Wilbur do a double-take. There was a kid on the other side, a girl with a backpack and a beanie that was so big on her it almost covered her eyes.
Wilbur wasn’t a total asshole, so he opened the door.
“Uh, can I help you?” he asked.
The kid looked up at him, and Wilbur was acutely aware of his height in a way he hadn’t been before. She barely came up to his waist, and she had to tilt her head back so far it looked like it hurt to look into his eyes. Her beanie slid off her head and landed on her backpack, but she didn't seem to notice.
“Hello,” the child said, “are you my papá?”
Wilbur’s heart stuttered with a feeling he couldn't describe. “What?”

Summary
The way the history books tell it, Earth’s introduction to the galactic scene was carefully proctored by governments on both sides due to, well, how volatile humans tended to be. All other species had eliminated world hunger, wars, and disease centuries before discovering lightspeed travel, the normal progression for intelligent societies, yet humans seemed to live to defy expectations. With some careful diplomacy, humans integrated into their new society quite well, and there was nothing more to speak about.
Reality was much different, of course.

Tommy scowls at him, and Techno wonders if he knows he’s taken up a battle stance.

The foolish bird got the idea that if he lived like the Swan, swimming and diving all day long and eating the weeds and plants that grow in the water, his feathers would turn white like the Swan's.
So he left his home in the woods and fields and flew down to live on the lakes and in the marshes. But though he washed and washed all day long, almost drowning himself at it, his feathers remained as black as ever. And as the water weeds he ate did not agree with him, he got thinner and thinner, and at last he died.

Summary
Tubbo slams his hand down on the panel, wincing at the sharp bolt of pain that races up his arm.
“For fuck’s sake,” he yells, voice cracking, “can you just work?”
The screens stay dim, and there’s no telltale hum of electricity powering the spaceship that Tubbo is so familiar with. The silence feels hollow.
Tubbo collapses into the pilot’s seat, looking up at the ceiling and desperately blinking tears away. He’s frustrated, tired, thirsty, and he really just wants this damn spaceship off the ground so he can go home and forget about this nightmare.
Unfortunately, the universe isn’t kind, and Tubbo is still stuck in the dark cockpit of his crashed ship, just like he has been for the past six days.

Ellen’s lips pinch tightly at the corners. “Then they will issue a full denial and Henry will tour the commonwealth himself.”
Alex doesn't hesitate. “Tell them we’ll do it. I’m not gonna let him do this alone."
It would kill him. Henry hates this shit. The public parading, the judgment. Having to do all of that, and deny who he is? Alex at least wants to be there, to hold his hand through it. Even if it's just as a friend.
It might kill Alex to pretend, but that’s a small price to pay to ensure Henry—his beautiful, vibrant, funny-as-hell, brilliant ex-not-quite-boyfriend—isn’t killed instead.
