This story takes place after Zuko Alone and then functions as an alternate version of The Chase. Toph has just joined the group, Azula is on their trail, and Zuko is far from Iroh’s calming influence.

In Tim’s defense, he hadn’t meant for it to happen. Who knew patrolling alone was such a bad idea? Him. That’s who. But he would vehemently argue his actions were 100% justified and necessary considering the extenuating circumstances. However, that was before his little solo jaunt around Gotham had landed him… well… stuck. With the rest of the bats not in Gotham, it wasn’t like there was anyone around to get him unstuck either.

When he gets a new mission to monitor the ‘Hazbin hotel’ and the princess of hell, he manages to annoy the king of hell so much, that in retaliation Lucifer turns him back into a human temporarily. Inadvertently revealing his best kept secret, only known to one other.

Benched from Robin while Bruce is away on W.E. business, Tim fully intends to follow orders this time…until he discovers that the Red Hood is MIA.
And sure, maybe Hood is at the top of the list of reasons why Bruce doesn't want Robin patrolling solo right now. Maybe Jason's murderous loathing for Tim makes him the worst potential candidate for what he's determined is a rescue mission…but Tim's the only help available, so help he will. And who knows?
