“Are you single?” Gaara asks. He’s not sure how he’s meant to do this.

“Oh, I see,” the man says after a pause. “I’ve read about this. You’re asking me out, and I should answer based on my interest rather than my actual relationship status.”

Good, he’s making this easy, Gaara thinks.

She wasn't a hero, but that's fine, this world had heroes. She wasn't a warrior, but there were enough of those. She wasn't a sniper, an intelligence officer, or a mechanic. Wasn't even a doctor for all that being one would actually be useful. No, Elisa was - had always been - a chemist. Now if only she'd woken up in a world where that didn't paint a huge target on her back! SI-OC

There's something wrong with Berylla Brax... everyone's heard of the accident. How she'd fallen going to break her fast and hadn't woken for nearly a moon's turn. When she did wake up Lady Berylla came back different. Quiet, observant, intense in a way she hadn't been before.

As she watches the Berylla wipe blood off of her stolen sword Elia supposes she should be thankful for the oddities of her savior.

    Summary

Vash catches up to him on the stairs without a word. Wolfwood ignores him until he’s able to get his door open—at which point he spares a glance, tries not to stare for too long, ignores how the roof of his mouth dries out when he meets Vash’s bright green eyes.

Wolfwood has never been able to suss him out, Vash. Do Plants even present in the same way? Not that it would matter—Wolfwood would never, not with Vash—but still… The thought crosses his mind.

“Don’t cause any trouble,” Wolfwood croaks.

“I’ll try,” Vash returns, “but Wolfwood—”

“See you in a week, Tongari.” Wolfwood pushes his cross in first, then throws himself after, slamming the door shut with perhaps more force than necessary. His fingers slide over the lock while he secures it, and then the dead bolt. Just can’t be too careful.

Tragically, he can still smell Vash outside the door. This fresh, slightly salty scent—woodsy and natural, something Wolfwood’s never smelled before.

    ---

The classic scenario: Wolfwood runs out of heat suppressants.
