Summary
Nagito rested his chin on his hand, leaning slightly over the counter. "Isn't it fascinating, Hajime? One tiny, ordinary choice can shift the entire direction of a world. You never really know which choice is the one that alters everything forever."
Hajime paused, his fingers hovering over the keyboard. The alignment between his own thoughts from a moment ago and Nagito’s exact phrasing felt uncomfortably precise, raising a faint prickle of goosebumps on his forearms.
"Something like that," Hajime said.

In which, Nagito, a high-functioning voluntary patient at a rehabilitation centre with off-site privileges, develops a dangerous interest in Hajime, a new night-shift staff member, after an unexpected late-night conversation.

Summary
Reo smiles to himself as he puts his phone away. He glances up, as he feels the subway beginning to slow.
The overhead voice chimes: “This is Times Square-42nd St…”
He looks ahead, at the blur of the tiles coming into view, the light from the station, and above that, there’s the scrolling display; spelling out directions for the next destination. Reo’s eyes trace the curved font when it blinks twice, like a glitch in a video game. Shit infrastructure, Reo thinks, only for the complaint to dissolve once the dotted LED font begins to roll out a new string of letters.
Detective Reo…Are you as excited as I am for what’s next?
The subway squeal echoes as it slows to a halt. Monotone voice overhead ensuing despite the chaos of people getting ready to depart. “Now arriving at Times Square-42nd St…”
I’m outside… Waiting for you…
