If someone were to ask Genos how he envisioned the greatest love story of his life, Genos would have said that he had better things to do than chase after romance.
If the same someone had patiently continued to probe, Genos might have talked about roses in a seaside garden, or sunrises and sunsets, or rings hidden inside cream-topped cakes, or climbing an ivy-covered ivory balcony and serenading love by moonlight. After all, that’s how most Great Love Stories go, and Genos knows this because he has, on occasion, been known to do Some Research.
All things considered, it really isn’t Genos’ fault that he’s slow to catch on. He gets there eventually, sort of, and that’s what matters after all.

Suguru swallows. “What’s that?” he manages to get out, pointing arbitrarily behind Satoru.
Satoru cranes his neck to peer behind him. “What’s what?”
When he turns back around, Suguru is on one knee.
Satoru’s eyes widen. “Suguru?”

No one yells for them to shut up. There’s a pause, a short breath in, before they start with a basic set of scales-

Because as Yaga used to say, one can tell a lot about a musician’s ability simply through a run-through of their scales.
And whoever the hell this is, their scales are the cleanest and most beautiful Satoru’s heard in a very, very long time.One and only child prodigy violinist Gojou Satoru has moved into a new apartment with bad ventilation and thin walls. "Do you think you could kill me?"
Suguru's pencil scritches against fresh paper. "Probably not with Infinity."
"Do you think you could try it?" he replies, as if he'd practiced this a million times prior.
"I'd rather not get executed, if that's what you're asking."
"But do you think you would want to?"
Ripping a post-it note from the clean stack on his desk, Suguru crumples it up and lets it hurtle towards Satoru's forehead. The yellow ball falls onto his best friend's lap. "Don't you have any work to do? What's with all the questions?"
"Dunno," Satoru replies, fiddling with the thing in his hands. "Just wondering."
Satoru has a terrible habit of asking Suguru theoreticals. Suguru doesn't think he'd mind it, if only he would stop asking the same one over and over again.
