Luigi’s had his soulmarks as long as he can remember, same as everybody else. He never dreamed he’d meet his soulmate after being thrown through a crazy pipe into another world, but fate is funny that way. However, as he's held aloft by magic staring at matching marks on a gold-scaled neck all he hears is Bowser singing Peach’s praises. When Kamek tried to suggest perhaps pursuing one's soulmate over the mushroom princess, Bowser says something callous. Heartbroken and devastated, Luigi’s jaw glues itself shut. After saving both worlds from the koopa king, he starts hiding his marks under turtleneck shirts or scarves, which Mario and his family make fun of him for. He pretends to laugh it off and tries to move on with his life…but the stars have a way of shining through even the darkest clouds.

Bowser leaned over, the heat of his body soaking through Luigi's clothes as he purred into his ear. "Or you can finish reading...out loud."When Bowser learnt that someone had been sneaking into HIS Library, he didn't expect it to be Mario's cowardly brother. Nor did he expect to find him in the Adult section. Turns out the little plumber isn't such an 'open book' after all, and it could be well worth his time delving beneath those covers.

All of them out there ‘ooing’ and ‘ahhing’ at shooting stars, having fun and probably getting all doe-eyed and lovey-dovey, and not even noticing he wasn’t there! Not that he was invited or anything. He wasn’t. But that was fine! He didn’t need to hang out with those losers anyway! While Red and his princess were out there ooing and pointing at the sky, he’d be poking around his nemesis’ house while they were distracted. He might find some good blackmail material, or a valued possession he could hold for ransom or something. And, who knows? If he was lucky, he might find Mario’s secret weakness.
Instead, Bowser discovers something that will change his life forever.
