Lucifer turned around to glare at the pair of them. “What the hell?” he demanded. “Are you following me?”
Box and the bellhop blinked at him, a brief ‘signal not found’ flicking over Box’s screen while the bellhop’s smile stayed unnervingly still.
“Uh,” Box said eventually. “We’re on a date.”
Now it was Lucifer’s turn to blink. “Wait. What?”
“A date!” The bellhop interjected in that smarmy tone that he thought made him sound charming. “An outstandingly tedious courtship ritual that anyone with half a brain would recognise as the waste of time and energy it is—”
Lucifer flapped a hand at him for silence. “That’s nice for you,” and unexpected, but wouldn’t Charlie be pleased to know that her therapy sessions had some effect after all? “but I have an eel to watch.” He pointedly turned back to the tank.
Box and the bellhop continued to look at him.
“Um,” Box said after a moment. “We’re on the date. You and me, I mean.”

Summary
In the shadowy recesses of a kingdom whose prince was banished — several years before the kingdom was attacked and taken over by interlopers from parts unknown — a traveling party seeks information to enact an important mission within the capital city.
The party's leader, a bard named Lux, catches the attention of a secretive rogue named Alder and they begin a back and forth push and pull game. Learning more about each other and the current state of the kingdom in the process, they work together to ensure that the mission proceeds — even with a few twists and turns along the way.
With old secrets and connections coming to light, the threat of a shadowy new king who intends to invade surrounding kingdoms to take them over may very well be the lesser of two evils to face. Ghosts of the past and old connections threaten to upend the recent history of Celestis, and the fate of many lives may very well hinge on overcoming a greater threat than any of them anticipated.

What it says on the tin.
“Can you go along with this for like two minutes?” Angel asks, stepping farther into Alastor’s quite well defined personal space than he ever remembers him trying before. “And maybe not kill me after?”
“What?” is all Alastor has time to ask before Angel’s top set of hands are buried in his hair, his bottom set are tugging at his waist, and his lips are on Alastor’s, hot and wet and disturbing.
Alastor feels his feedback screech as Angel murmurs “Sorry, sorry. Please!” into the kiss and then whatever (violent) response Alastor is working up to is derailed as five armed demons barrel around the corner.
“There he is!” one of them yells, as Angel thankfully detaches himself from Alastor’s face. “Who’s he with?”
“I told you boys I already had plans for the night,” Angel drawls, turning so that only two of his hands remain on Alastor, one still circling his waist and the other cupping the back of his neck. Both are shaking, Alastor notes. “I can’t go cancelling on such a powerful date, can I?”
Ah, Alastor’s the date. Grand.

A squeal of static drowned out a sudden wheeze from Lucifer, Alastor's cheeks flaming at the implication. Heat sparked in his chest and crept up the back of his neck, something behind his ribs twisting as Lucifer stuttered out a denial.
“Ha – me and – and him? Ha, no, I mean – no. We're just... just working together. For Charlie,” Lucifer finished up, his voice going a little weak as gold spread over his pale face. His gaze drifted over to where Charlie was trying on dresses, a tiny imp seamstress tugging and poking at her all the while.
“For Charlie,” Alastor echoed.

Or: Lucifer and Alastor have to at least pretend to get along to help Charlie and Vaggi plan their wedding. Along the way, they discover hidden depths to each other that they might have preferred to remain ignorant of.
