    Summary

Four-year-old Luna has been able to see lights her whole life- and when both of her parents die in an explosive magical accident, she decides to grab on to one of the lights and follow it.

Meanwhile, Regulus Black has never really thought of himself as the parental sort- he's hardly interacted with a child in his life, much less raised one. But when two magically inexplicable orphans show up and somehow resurrect him- well, what else was he supposed to do? Not immediately adopt them? Yeah, right.

(Features little Luna and Harry adopting each other as siblings and Regulus being in way, way over his head)

    Summary

Peter is fine, anyways. His boss might fire him soon, the Avengers might arrest him soon, the principal might expel him soon, but none of it has happened yet. And his dad—
“You didn’t get my coffee,” his dad says, halfway through his burrito. He has been in a state of low, simmering irritation all evening, and apparently this is how long it took for him to find a reason to blame Peter for it.
“You didn’t tell me to get coffee.”
    “Do you have eyes?”
“Yes,” Peter says. “I have eyes.”
“So you could have checked if we needed coffee without me telling you every little thing, Jesus Christ.”

Peter just wants to make it to sixteen so he can escape this life and strike out on his own. He has a plan and nothing will ruin it.
Not even Tony Stark quite literally crashing into his life.

“So what have you been up to this weekend?”
    “Family picnic,” Peter says.
“Oh, great, great fun,” Tony says and swipes away from the article about Spider-Man wrestling a giant spider on the roof of the Chrysler building.
It’s quite obvious that Tony knows he is Spider-Man, but decided not to acknowledge it; decided to keep the secret going. For what reason, Peter doesn’t know. Maybe Tony thinks he can use the information in his favor, or maybe he just doesn’t want Peter to freak out. Either way, it serves Peter just fine, because Tony tries so hard to keep up his oblivious act that he never prods too hard or looks too deep.
Which means all of Peter’s far bigger secrets are still safe.

    Summary

Tony sat before the parole committee and spouted the same old bullshit he’d been spouting for sixteen years. It was pointless; Stane was going to keep him in the Raft until he breathed his last, whatever he said to the panel. Most likely everyone in that room had been paid off.
It depressed Tony to think of that, and it was all inevitable anyway, so he sat back and enjoyed the quiet of the room until it was punctuated by the thump of a stamp.
    REJECTED.

When Tony first laid eyes on Peter Parker, he was forty-five, the kid was eighteen, and Tony bet two packs of cigarettes on him breaking down that very night.
“Look at him. Still gangly. He’ll drop like a fly.”
Maybe it wasn’t nice. But it was just what happened. You might as well have bet on it.
    ---
It's 1952. Tony Stark is 16 years into a life sentence at the Raft when he meets Peter Parker, a new arrival who changes things at the prison for good with his unbridled, enchanting capacity for hope in a place full of hopelessness.

    Bookmarker's Notes

The routine at the Raft was rigid enough that Tony was certain sometimes that it would kill him. And no, he would not list it for you. Piss off.

    —and—

August tore the moisture from the topsoil and left it gasping.

    —and—

I miss you staring at me like nobody’s goddamn business.

    Look again--

look alive, goddamnit, look with eyes that love, not

the dead orbs that I see in my nightmares.

    Never take them off me.

I want those eyes forever, don’t you understand?

    I want them painted,

    immortalised--

you who stared at me like nobody’s goddamn business.

Who loved like a fucking moron.

    You were

    the best of the universe.

    My sun.

    My bright eyes.
