Summary
Restless and unable to quiet his thoughts after the Maleshov battle, Hans Capon finds himself drawn toward Henry’s chambers, chasing a feeling he can’t quite name. Something has been pulling him closer to the blacksmith’s boy for weeks - something he refuses to call by its name. But when he reaches the door, he hears another voice inside. Devil’s voice.
"Hynek, please..." Henry’s voice came again, thick with breath.
"I know how you feel about him... this isn’t only about duty..."
"You don’t know what you’re talking about, Devil..."
"But I do. Believe me, I do... I’ve been there. And I am fond of our Birdie too as you may have noticed..."
The moans grew louder. Hans froze, his pulse hammering in his ears. Confusion tangled with heat that crawled up his neck.
"Do you wish he was doing what I’m doing to you? Would you want him in my place, Henry? Tell me..."Three men, one night, and the warmth that changes everything they thought they knew about one another.

Summary
They both knew it was goodbye that night in Suchdol. Henry had saved them all, though the one person he could not save was himself.
Hans Capon tried to move on. He had buried his secret lover with honour, though the grave itself defied all notions of logic. Flowers never withered. Candles placed on that soil never burned down. Even the rain could not smother the flames. Henry would later rise from the earth, changed entirely and doomed to linger at the edges of his old life.
Stranger still - a curse befell Rattay - a never ending rain and unexplainable happenings leaving townsfolk missing, dead or changed.
When Hans’ young son befriended a raven with an uncanny intelligence, what more could he see but an omen of death?
