Summary
Without waiting for a reaction or reply, the man bore down on the gas and peeled down the highway, leaving Buck stranded in the middle of nowhere somewhere along Interstate 10.
And as Buck watched the red brake lights of his Jeep disappear into the distance, clutching his prescription of blood thinners tightly to his chest... there was really only one thing left to do. Tilting his head back until he was staring at the stars, he took a deep breath and screamed into the night:
“Fuck!”
And much like every other one of his recent cries for help, it had gone unanswered.
---
Buck gets carjacked, held at gunpoint, and stranded in Arizona the day before his first shift post-lawsuit. And that's only the beginning of his troubles.

Pretty, Elphaba thinks. It shocks her, how easily it comes to her, but there’s really no other word for it. No one, in all her life, has ever looked at Elphaba like Galinda is right now. No one, in all her life, has ever looked this happy to see her.
“Welcome to Shiz University, Elphaba Thropp. I have a feeling we’re going to be very good friends.”

“Elphie is just—”
“Oh, Elphie,” Milla scoffed. “I'm sorry, I forgot you two are joined at the hip nowadays. I don't care what Elphie is doing here, I just want to go home. It's the weekend!”
Glinda’s face burned as Milla dragged her through the library. “Now wait a moment. What makes you think I could possibly—?”
“Figure it out. And get her out of here!"

Summary
In careful, deliberate ways, Elphaba has found she and Galinda are not so different. In careful, deliberate ways, they have also learned from each other— what it means to be certain that you never need to be anyone but exactly who you are; what it means to know that there is someone who would never ask you to change. What it means when one day, you look in the mirror, and you see that you have anyway, because change is so very easy when someone loves you that much.
Which is to say, that in some fashion, Galinda, who has never been careful or deliberate, has barged her way into Elphaba’s quiet life and for once banished her own impulses in favor of new ones, in favor of the slow, connective kindness that can only be unearthed by the gentlest pair of hands.
(Or, the five times that Galinda asks Elphaba to tell her a secret, and the one time Elphaba asks her.)

It’s five months after the worst day of Glinda’s life that she wakes from one terrible nightmare into a new one. It’s the barest whisper of a sound, the smallest flicker of a shadow in the low light, and Glinda springs awake.
“Elphie?”
Or: Elphaba is alive. She and Glinda have some stuff to work out.

“I can’t believe that you truly assumed you bedding—”
“Kissing!” Eloise interjected, hardly able to hide her blush.
“—kissing Cressida Cowper was going to somehow break the spell.” Benedict took a drag of the cigarette, rolling his eyes, “It is so like you to think you’ve found the answer and then to act hastily like you’re God’s own servant on earth and everything you do has some type of higher importance.”
Eloise smirked, “Did we not just establish that I am the sole person experiencing an otherworldly phenomenon? I think that entitles me to believe that my actions are important.”
OR
Eloise keeps living the same day—the day of Colin and Penelope’s engagement party—over and over again. Breaking the chain feels impossible, but Eloise knows returning to normalcy involves at least two things: making peace with Penelope, and finally figuring out how to accept a part of herself she’d long hidden away… the part of herself that longs for one Cressida Cowper.

“Are you saying there is nothing you would kill for? Not the goddess? Or Adrestia? The right suitor, if one should arise?”
“If I have to kill to get a husband, then I’d rather be alone,” Dorothea said, wrinkling her nose. “In a perfect world, we wouldn’t need any of this, would we?”
Dorothea finds a cause.

Summary
“When I imagine the rest of my life,” she says, “I imagine my arms, and my legs. Rather—I don’t imagine them. Because I am so assured of the fact that they will be there that to spare them a thought seems superfluous. Foolish, even.”
At last she lifts her chin to gaze into Dorothea’s eyes. Dorothea has heard that gaze called powerful, and lethal, and king-breaking—she has heard that gaze compared to coronet and cataclysm, hex and hatchet—but to her it has always been like the silver snow, belying spring.
“Would you think me foolish, Dorothea? If I were to wish for such a thing as that?”
Dorothea answers a very particular question.

“I went to the woods to live deliberately,” she shouts at Ginger’s back, clad in a red puffer jacket to avoid being mistaken for a target. The irony is not lost on Brigitte.
Ginger turns round, looking completely unimpressed. “You did not,” she says, hair tucked into the back of her coat, too-pale face peeking out.
“No,” Brigitte admits. “I did not. I went to the woods because otherwise you were going to end up in a lab, on your hind legs begging for a biscuit.”
