This defense mechanism is a recently adopted habit of his. Nothing about Erik lately has given him any indication that he wouldn’t be open for a conversation. In fact, it’s shocking how open Erik has been. He expected something different… He’s not even sure what. Perhaps a few awkward first steps between them, considering how little they have talked to each other lately. Not for lack of trying, no, but simply… Charles had been too busy. Erik was presumed dead, and before, he had been ruling a nation. How could they even begin to talk?

Summary
Momentarily, Xehanort is distracted by the elated look in the other boy’s eyes. Eraqus has complained about his supposedly 'boring' dark eyes in the past, but under the night sky like this, unblemished by the light of the few lampposts that are planted metres away, Eraqus's eyes mirror the stars above; a million different worlds reflected in a dark sea.
Xehanort has gazed many times at the starry sky, but it has never felt quite like this.
In which Xehanort notices that Eraqus has been acting rather strangely in the lead-up to a gala hosted by his family.

Summary
Joshua laughs and Riku feels sick again. His hand is out of his hair and has returned to his front pockets. Leaned against the wall, he’s the epitome of casual. “No problem. Although really, I should be the one thanking you. Defeating that Dream Eater is a task the others couldn’t handle.”
“You could, though.” Riku isn’t quite sure why he said that. It’s likely true, but not the type of compliment he’s known for throwing out. He’s just desperate to keep this conversation going for reasons he refuses to articulate.
Joshua takes a step closer to Riku, and now the boy is sort-of in his personal space. He doesn’t mind.
Joshua drags Riku kicking and screaming into some self-realization.
