Summary
Max has always been a protector, it’s just who he is.
Ever since he was five years old and his mother placed a bundle of blankets in his arms with his tiny baby brother nestled inside, Max knew, deep down in a place no one could ever reach, that he was never going to let anything, or anyone, hurt him.
And he didn’t.
He stopped Lando from walking face-first into furniture when he first started toddling around. He hugged him close when nightmares clawed their way into his dreams. He checked under the bed for monsters and made-up silly voices in stories until Lando’s giggles filled the room like sunlight. That was their world, small, safe, full of warmth and laughter.
Then the world ended.

When the world ended Max didn’t have much time for anyone else, he was to busy keeping his little brother Lando alive. But when they find safety and a boy, Charles, comes along Max learns how to let someone in for the first time in years. Through the destruction of there world they learn to lean on each and that trust sometimes creates a bond that goes beyond words, it’s one that can only be built from ruin.*prequel to ashes and blood*

Tommy pressed a hand to the window. The sharp chill settled deep into the bones of his fingers, a stark reminder that this wasn’t a dream. His breath fogged the glass as he stared into the open expanse of space, at the endless sea of stars that he could see from so far away, yet seemed close enough to touch.
The creature outside moved closer, and Tommy locked eyes with it. Slowly, almost gingerly, it pressed a palm against the glass, directly over Tommy’s own. It was green like the rest of its translucent skin, and unmistakably human.
Tommy stared out from the silent bridge of the ship, and the impossible stared back.
Or- A classic space AU obsession featuring Tommy as our resident space orc, the SBI as our eccentric alien family, and a conspiracy unraveling at the seams.

Tommy was handed a small flyer in printed in black and white, with the words “POETRY NIGHT - OPEN MIC” splayed across the front in bubbled font. He fumbled with his binder as he took it, eyes wide as he said, “are you sure? I mean, I love poetry and all, but I don’t think-I’m not sure—what if I can’t write poetry?”
Mr. Sam’s dark eyes softened, and he reached out to place a hand on Tommy’s shoulder, squeezing it gently. “Everyone has to start somewhere; every poet, from me to Rudy Francisco, started off without knowing a clue about what we were doing. Tommy, it’s not about if you can or cannot write poetry, it’s about if you want to.”

“Phil,” his voice breaks, “I’m not the person you need. I don’t want to pilot. I don’t want someone else in my head. I can’t do that again. I won’t do that again.” Techno fights off a shiver at the phantom feeling of claws crushing his chest, squeezing until his ribs crack under the pressure and he struggles to breathe. With a shake of his head, he pulls in a lungful of air. “Not after what happened with Wilbur. I refuse to put myself through that again, I’m sorry.”
He begins to walk away, his back to Phil when the blond calls out firmly, “Techno, I don’t think you understand. The world is coming to an end.”
or Five years after the loss of his brother, Techno is recruited to rejoin the Jaeger Program. As one of the best pilots in the world, his expertise is needed to help close the Breach. But he’s not sure, not after losing Wilbur.
