The screen parts momentarily as the Consort's arm reaches through. A teacup in hand settles on the corner closest to Takumi.
The sleeve leading up from the exposed wrist shows a plum-red underrobe, and a contrasting pale sleeve above it, light as Aotsuki's hair. The threads from the work of the royal embroiders gleam in shifting patterns, as Consort Aotsuki's hand withdraws.
Despite their distance, something in First Consort Aotsuki's eyes keeps Takumi's spine straight, an awareness of where he kept the smaller dagger in his sleeve, the distance of its hilt from his palm.
Takumi may be far from the seasoned general his father was known as. What he had seen on the field was still enough to keep him alive.

ABSOLUTELY CRYING over how hilarious this fic chooses to be..........yes, there is the love for his children but also adding in vader's exremely tangible hatred of actually running things and dealing with bureaucracy and being motivated to make it a functioning republic again elevates this fic from a sensible chuckle to a Masterpiece in comedy :DDD
