Levi lists a few more spelling errors before taking pity and returning it to the man, who looks so much like a mere boy now - cheeks burning and shoulders squared.
“S’not poetry,” he actually pouts, good grief. “They’re lyrics.”
“It’s not bad,” Levi shrugs. “Your spelling sucks though.” For a moment the man’s shoulders shiver - like he might fucking cry, but then they steady again and his eyes take on a shining quality.

One moment he had been cutting through a neck the size of a carriage, the next the ground had risen up and struck him, and something in his leg had given way with a wet, grinding snap that still echoed behind his eyes.
Now the limb lay useless, bent wrong beneath the ruin of his trousers, bone pressing white against skin that had already begun to purple. Every shallow breath sent a fresh spike of white pain up through his hip and into the base of his spine. He did not make a sound. Sound was a luxury for people who still believed someone might answer.
Or: Levi gets hurt during a mission and Eren helps him feel better.
