I spun around, my feet kicking out from under me and shakily propelling my body upwards. My mouth felt dry but I desperately tried to push words out anyway. All that came out of the confines of my throat was a garbled, choked sob - an ugly noise filled with the frustration and complete despair from just seconds ago because I had been so certain I had just bet my life on nothing.
The man in front of me made no move, just stared owlishly back at me from his post near the doorway as he patiently waited for my reply to take on more than just indecipherable sounds.
The man - he who was Death.

“Do you ever just want to get out of this shithole?” he suddenly asked, you were not prepared for this question at all. Blinking and taking a little while longer than usual to think, you finally replied, “yea.” Henry looked over at you, “where would you go?” You shrugged, you hadn’t really put much thought into it, you knew this town fucking sucked, and most of the people here sucked too. It was a small town with nothing going for it except the disappearances of all those missing kids and you didn’t like it. Leaving meant leaving the few people you cared about behind though, so wanting to leave was as far as that plan got, you hadn’t actually thought about where you would leave to. “I guess I dunno,” you finally concluded.

Isaiah raises a brow, and that smile is still on his lips, so Hunter just can’t help but to keep looking at them. “Well, if it’s so bad that you of all people don’t wanna say it, then I don’t even want to know.”
You definitely don’t, Hunter agrees in his head. The ring on his finger feels like it’s burning the skin underneath.
