“Overdramatic? What if I kill myself? Would that be overdramatic?”
“Buck.”
Buck starts to walk toward the parking lot, and Eddie, ever so whipped, does the same.
“I’m going to leave this firehouse and step onto incoming traffic,” Buck says, bypassing Ravi and May without a glance. “I’m gonna do it, and this is all your fault.”
Eddie doesn’t spare them a look either, and then they’re back to being alone, except for the curious eyes of B-Shift.
“Wow,” Ravi says. “It’s almost like you’re biologically related.”
“What?” May asks, telling him to tread carefully with a small twitch of her lip.
Ravi doesn’t listen. “You and Buck.”
“We’re nothing alike.”
“Not physically, but you’re…”
“We’re what?”
And that’s when he gets it. “Nothing. I retract my statement.”
“You’re still sleeping on the couch tonight.”

“Okay. So… Evan and I,” Tommy began, letting the words hang just long enough to gather attention and Eddie wanted to throw up. “We are engaged and we’re planning to get married very soon.” said Tommy while smiling and then kissing Buck on his forehead.
The sentence settled into the room with a clarity that felt unreal. At the same time, Buck lifted his hand. The ring caught the light immediately, a clean silver band that stood out against his skin.
Sound didn’t disappear entirely, but voices blending like they were happening in another room. The station was still there, the people, the movement, the familiar environment Eddie had spent years navigating without thinking, but none of it felt accessible anymore.All Eddie could focus on was that hand, that ring, and the fact that Buck still hadn’t looked at him.
Buck and Tommy are engaged and Eddie felt like he was dying inside.

Buck gets home on an ordinary Tuesday evening, after a long and grueling shift that had him dead on his feet and a goal to crash into the couch as fast as possible, only to be met with Eddie sprawled on top of it, a tiny curled up furball on his chest, right underneath his chin.
The slight frown Buck is sporting between his eyebrows all but disappears the moment he lays his eyes on the image in front of him, taking it all in. Eddie’s mouth is curved up in a playful smile, pointing a finger at the little kitten who just opened its eyes, green and shiny, looking at Buck with a scowl… a scowl? Since when can cats scowl?
“Welcome home, Buck. Meet Luna.”
Or: Eddie's new kitten isn't too fond of Buck, so he tries everything in his powers to get closer to her while also navigating his new found feelings for his best friend.
