"—guilty, for Involentary Manslaughter," her mind repeats, the judges voice booming and filling her with dread.
"—one year in the Inkopolis City Correctional Facility,"One year. That's it. Three hundred and sixty five days. She could handle that, right?

There would be hate and horror and humorless irony in every turn, but that young Maomao grinned and relaxed down into the sunbaked grass with a crude legends children's book beside her. If her destiny was already set, it didn't matter what she did.
