Summary
Sitting in the tiny closet, surrounded by the smell of leather and neoprene, she’s had a lot of time to reflect on her choices, specifically the ones that led her to engage in breaking and entering into Shane Hollander’s cottage while her future husband makes dinner with Shane Hollander’s parents.
It wasn’t like she set out to break the law. She didn’t choose to fall in love, it just sort of happened, a twist of cosmic luck like the Big Bang or when the vending machine gives you two candy bars instead of one.
Or: Ilya Rozanov has a stalker.

Summary
Ilya’s mouth quirked, and again his eyes flicked across Shane’s face, assessing.
Shane held his gaze. He’d read the file. Ilya Rozanov was the same age he was, but 26 looked a lot different when it had never had to be responsible for anything. Shane could already tell that Rozanov was going to make his job significantly more difficult for no reason except that he could—and best of luck to him. Shane had worked with difficult principals before, and when it came down to it, the job was very simple: keep them alive, keep your opinions to yourself, and go home at the end of the posting.Or: Someone is threatening the life of Ilya Rozanov, son of Russian Diplomat Grigori Rozanov. Shane Hollander is the Parliamentary Protective Service Officer assigned to his detail.

Summary
Objectively, he knows that there’s nothing left to worry about.
Everything he ever dreaded has already come true. Caught by his father with a man’s hand on his ass. Outed publicly. Chased off his team and out of his city. Dick graffiti sprayed all over every billboard of his face. The hiss of cocksucker at the face-off. His C gone.
It should make it easier to know that they already survived the worst that could happen. That it’s not easier seems like another failure.

Summary
"Rozanov?" he says, almost without meaning to. Surely he's mistaken and is about to be told to fuck off. Or, even more alarmingly, he is correct, and then he is certain to be told to fuck off, and possibly punched in the face. The man shifts, eyes drifting from his drink up to Scott and— well, there's no denying it. The captain of the Boston Raiders is drunk in Scott's neighborhood dive bar.
"Fuck," the response is slow, the delayed reaction of molasses spilling out of a jar carelessly knocked over on the kitchen counter. "I must have overdone it. I have summoned the Ghost of Hockey Past."
Scott could just leave. He could turn on a heel, and leave this drunk asshole to discover on his own what consequences are.
Because he's stupid, though, because he's nothing if not a responsible captain even when the drunken idiot in question isn't even one of his own teammates, and yes, because a small part of him can't help but love a good train wreck when he sees one, he sits down instead.
__
Or, Scott Hunter runs into Ilya Rozanov sometime around midnight after a game, and the two saddest, loneliest, most closeted hockey players in New York end up sharing more than they mean to.- Language:

“Hello,” Ilya repeats, still kind of stuck on those freckles.
“Hi?” the man says.
“Hi,” Ilya says—again.
Oh god, he's said hello three times now. He should literally say anything else. His name, probably. His phone number, preferably.
“Hi,” Ilya says again, because he can’t help it. “I am—”
“Are you Nick?” the man asks, and it comes out as a breathless sound.

Summary
Shane was twelve when hockey scouts started showing up to his games. He was barely fifteen when a check went horribly wrong, fucked his knee to hell and gave him a grade III concussion. During rehab he found swimming, and he was seventeen when he went to the Olympics as a relay-only swimmer who only swam the prelims.
He’s 24 and working for his mom’s sports PR company when he meets Ilya Fucking Rozanov.
May contain: Shane Hollander navigating what it means to be mostly normal when your whole childhood was about preparing you for greatness. Shane Hollander attempting to flirt. Possibly less than 100% accurate descriptions of what a sports PR agent does.

Listen. Shane knew it was dumb to feel anything like jealousy over this stupid game. It was a stupid game when it didn't involve Ilya, and it was even stupider when it did. He should tune them out and leave them to it, like he always did.
But nobody was having sex with Ilya but him. Nobody else was even thinking about it.
Or - The Montreal Metros like to play Would You Rather. For some reason, sex with Ilya comes up a lot.

“If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?” Quickly, Ilya adds, “Don’t say that you want to know if you win the Cup.”“Why not? What if that’s my answer?”
“Is so boring, Hollander. Of course you want to know this. But Ilya Rozanov and Boston Raiders exist in this world, so crystal ball says, so sad, but no.”
“Fuck off. What are these questions even for, anyway? Are you interviewing me for something? Wouldn’t you have to, like, tell me if you were?”
Ilya is quick to assure Hollander before his paranoia takes him right out of this phone call. “It is not for interview, Hollander. I am just wondering. Answer the question.”
“And I can’t say that I would want to know whether I win the Cup.”
“Yes, other than that.”
“I guess… I guess I would want to know, like, am I happy?”

“I cannot talk about this anymore,” Ilya says. Hiccups. “Unless you have read somewhere there’s a magical sex position that cures hiccups, I—”
Shane makes an interesting sound. Ilya’s head snaps up. Shane is making intense eye contact with the wall next to them, and he’s pink - pinker than he would usually be from being pressed against a door and kissed. And, crucially, he’s gone rock hard against Ilya’s thigh. Ilya is fucking delighted.
“Hollander,” he says. Thrilled. “There is a sex position that cures hiccups?”

Summary
He can’t tell Ilya though. He can’t tell Ilya that his team might not be right for Shane. That this perfect solution is making Shane a worse hockey player, a bad teammate.
That maybe Shane Hollander of the Voyagers really was his full name. That Shane Hollander of the Centaurs might not exist.
He can’t say that. He can’t ruin everything. He can’t dim the shine in Ilya’s eyes, the bounce in his step, the color in his cheeks he didn’t have the last few years.
Ilya sacrificed hockey for their relationship for two years, played on a crappy team and watched Shane win. It’s Shane’s turn to sacrifice, to figure out how to make this work and let Ilya lead this time.
Or:
Transitions are hard for Shane. Joining his husband's team turns out not to be an exception to that rule.

Summary
Shane's body feels warm and still inclined to movement — he rubs his own thighs gently, long strokes up and down. It seems like Ilya and Sasha just kiss for a long time, but Shane's still not sure he can be trusted to sort seconds from minutes from hours.
Finally, they shed some clothes — Sasha’s shirt, which flutters so elegantly to the ground. Ilya's top. Sasha puts a hand in the centre of Ilya's chest.
"How do you want to do this?" His eyes flick over to Shane. "I am guessing these days you have a… habit." His lips twitch. "But as you know, I'm flexible."
Shane is fixated on the way Sasha's fingers look against Ilya's skin, so it takes a moment to process the words.
"Sorry," he says. "Wait. What?"
I asked myself, what would it take for Hollanov to switch, and it turns out my answer was Shane experiencing a total psychic collapse, featuring Sasha being an absolute menace.
