Read later when not half-dead at 2AM. Very intriguing premise, Din & Jaster characters on point (hot/sassy/funny/just honestly strange), slow-burn, MANDO LORE THE GOOD SHIT (the take on the Tribe will blow ur mind). Also more Jaster/Din content, we are being fed so well. This rare pair is everything, and I love everyone who writes for them until infinity.
The formatting makes it a little hard to differentiate different speakers, but its all good

While in the hands of the unwilling, the Dark Saber will be a curse onto the nation. Yet, no one had said anything about the Dark Saber being haunted by a dead Mand’alor and a mythosaur. It was just Din’s luck that the two find him worthy to wield the legendary blade when he decidedly disagrees.

Their face was almost peaceful unlike most beings encased in carbonite. There also appeared to be grievous wounds in the chest, gut, and upper left thigh. The slab was older and not as sleek as the kind Din once used. A quick check of the being's vital signs showed whoever this was still lived--if barely. Din pulled up the being's chain code on the data display, and froze.
The read out clearly stated: Jaster Mereel."

The prologue begins at midpoint: Din Djarin has been Mand’alor for over a year. They slowly see Din as a father figure as much as their sole ruler, while broken warriors piece their own lives back together. Din’s Covert is yet to be found. Unknown numbers of Mandalorians are scattered across the galaxy, awaiting a call to arms. Meanwhile, an ancient Mand’alor reaches out to Din in cryptic ways, blurring the lines between the past, present, and future. The long journey to healing and reclaiming Mandalore begins, and it would take the strongest to lead them.

The Olden Way held different values from most Resol’nare. Their Creed kept their Ways close, they kept their secrets with their lives. It was difficult to find information on them because they themselves were hard to find. They were ghosts.
The only reason Jaster knew that much was because one of his closer Verde was once of a Covert. His Creed was broken and while he sought Redemption to return in the beginning, he found his soulmate who was not of his Creed.
“Olden Way or not, our tendons have granted him the life debt of my ad and me. One for saving his life, and one because I failed to be there to protect it.” Jaster muttered. “We’ll find him.”

Bo-Katan of House Kryze has given it to Din to spite him for his inaction towards retaking their homeland. Boba Fett of Clan Vhett, given to him in jest during a celebration between Din, Boba, and Fennec. But to Din, it was a reminder of doing better for his weird green child.
The Reformer, a title once held by Jaster Mereel whose rule was cut too short by an extremist. In his short reign, he was close to uniting Madalore under one leadership.
Through the machinations of the force, both leaders of different times meet. Some say the force wanted to give their people the chance to make some changes. Din thinks the force was bored.

Din Djarin successfully redeems himself in the Living Waters of Mandalore, and discovers the statute of Tarre Viszla before leaving the planet. Things just get weird from there. And somehow, he lands in the past to save Jaster Mereel and deliver him the Dark Saber. Tarre and the Dark Saber seem to believe Jaster is the only one worthy to bear the title of Mand'alor in the last several decades, only because Din doesn't want the damn thing. He's not fit to be Mand’alor.

jaster getting saved and thirsting. montross AND tor dead??? best.oh man. authors a pro at the romcom, take notes. delightfully funny with heart-aching yearning. fucking makes me sick with how sweet it is. I've read this more than 10 times.
finished. 10/10, will read 100 more times. very delightful ending, so worth the read.

Din Djarin lives a simple life. Day and night, he works as a bounty hunter, dragging in targets who range from murderous to skipping on debts. It's the same routine day in and day out, risking life and limb to bring home money for the displaced Mandalorians, whose exile verges on its decade anniversary.
Then a bounty comes along, with little information but a reward that's too good to be true.
Din finds himself risking it all for the child that's come into his care. Burning bridges and building new ones becomes the routine as they flee across the country, pursued by an unknown enemy who will stop at nothing to have the infant. But his peoples' history hangs heavy and a Mandalorian is a Mandalorian. Blood will spill before the battle for the child is over.
