    Summary

"I fear that, when you reached into the Force to ease this man's pain, you reached too far. And without proper shielding… it’s easy to see how a rudimentary connection might have been established," the force-ghost of his former master says contemplatively, as if he is not casually ruining Luke's entire life.

Luke buries his face in his hands. “You’re saying I gave too much.”

“In a sense, yes," Ben replies.

“I’m a force-whore,” Luke moans. “Oh, kark. Leia is going to kill me.”

“Are you the Jedi?” the Mandalorian asked, his helmet tilting in assessment. Mandalore’s sun glinted brightly off the beskar, making the armor almost glow. Luke was surprised to realize how well that image complemented the man’s muted Force signature.

“Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight,” Luke bowed, remembering his manners, “On behalf of the Council, we were honored to receive your invitation.”

Mandalore requests a teacher for their growing population of Force-sensitives and the Jedi Council sends Luke.

“Just,” Luke huffs, feeling his face burn with the memory and the alcohol and the realization that Din is much closer to him on the bed than when this started. “The last time I drank this… I was with another Mandalorian.”

Relaxing with a drink after a successful mission, Luke reflects back on his last Boonta Eve on Tatooine.

“The Red Hood has been good for Gotham,” Robin continued. “Crime in Park Row decreased by sixty one percent almost as soon as you showed up, and that’s even taking into account all the crime you commit. Drug overdoses have decreased by twenty two percent in adults and seventy nine percent in minors. Homeless minors are ninety two percent less likely to—”

“Kid,” Jason interrupted. “Enough statistics. What the hell is this about?”

Robin slowly lowered the tablet with his powerpoint presentation and looked up at Red Hood.

“You care about Gotham,” Robin summarised. “Gotham needs Batman. Batman is missing and so is Nightwing. We need you to fill in for Batman.”

“You want me to cover Batman’s patrols?” Jason clarified.

“No,” Robin said. “I want you to be Batman.”

    Jason bluescreened.

(Or: Batman and Nightwing mysteriously disappear before Red Hood has even started antagonising them, Robin is desperate, Gotham needs Batman, and Red Hood is Batman-Shaped.)
