Summary
Harrowhark Nonagesimus is the junior partner at her family's Craftwork firm of Novenarius, Noniusvianus, & Nonagesimus. It was named that when she was born. She's never had a choice but to become a master Craftswoman, and now she's returning to her home city of Alt Canaan to check on a contract that could break her already-tenuous future.
Gideon Nav tried to skip town when her childhood nemesis, Harrowhark Nonagesimus, left to become a Craftswoman. She didn't make it far, and now she tries her best to make ends meet in a city that wants her dead.
Above it all sits God-Emperor John Gaius, Conqueror of Death, Ransomer of Death, lord of Alt Canaan and Chief Executive of First House Capital. The only god to have fought the Deathless Kings to a standstill in the God Wars, giving no quarter, taking no prisoners, his sainted Lyctors wielding powers of Craft and faith alike.
Their fates are sealed. Their lives will change. The tomb will open.
