Summary
Rin Hattori didn’t wish for this – certainly not. All he wanted to do was go to the studio, or maybe even the park to get some fresh air, and yet, here he was, whisked away to a different world that had magic.
At first, like a reasonable human being, he thought that perhaps, the universe had abandoned him in this fever dream. Was he so close to death that god had decided to tempt him? Surely death would be better than being stuck in a place like this, right?
Sadly, he ended up enrolling in Night Raven College.
It couldn't be helped, he supposed, forming a solid game plan. Do well enough not to fail in his academics, research a way home, avoid music like the plague, teach some goddamn English, and maybe do some art here and there while he was at it— hey, what could he say, this was another world after all. But most importantly, he resolved himself to try and keep it low-key.
In hindsight, Rin would’ve scoffed. What part of this is low-key? He wanted to scream.
(Oh, his friends back at home were going to absolutely lose it. What joy.)

Dark black locks flowed in the wind that breathed freshness into the land holding the graves of fallen comrades; the protectors of humanity. Only a select few knew that the powerful and respected head of the demon slayer corps was just a frail and sickly man — bound to die bearing the weight of the sins committed by the stain of their family tree.
He hummed, staring with vacant eyes towards the cherry blossoms that decorated the solemn place of rest.
“Who knows,” There was no questioning it. “One thing’s for certain.”“She’ll bring a ripple of change throughout the corps. Perhaps we’ll finally be able to eliminate him with her here.”
For once since the start of this cycle of death and suffering; things were changing. And the Ubuyashiki family knew that things would only turn in their favour. They sensed it.

“Was it too much?” The stones that stood upright in front of her feet gave no reply, even as she carefully dug a hole in the small gap of soil between the pair of graves. Pale pink, pure white. She rested the roots of their beloved peonies into the ground, securely, patting down with hands much too small for the task.
“What was I thinking?”
The anticipation of not being left behind. The greed of not wanting to be alone.
Perhaps she did ask too much of the universe that seemed to pit everything against her. “They say that even in this ever-changing world, only the starlit sky won’t change.”

Summary
Some might call Rin Hattori someone who didn’t care for worldly affairs. After all, it was like a layer of space existed between him and other people, between him and the world. Wide, gaping, growing.
It was as if the world spinned in its own orbit with Rin standing in the same spot, unaffected.
Prodigy, some say. Genius, some claim.
Despite that, most would call him pitiful. Because if not pitiful, what would he be, when he was wasting his talent away?
Rin didn’t care for world around him. No matter how hard he tried to pay attention to them, he truly couldn’t care less. All that really mattered was his own life and the select few people involved in it.
Now, if only ‘worldly’ affairs encompassed ‘otherworldly’ affairs too, because it would’ve made his life a whole lot easier.
