Childe’s head slammed against the tree.
“Shut. Up.” Scaramouche glared up at him, and Childe scrambled for words. He had a hunch that he should probably be scared, or at least be feeling some sort of trepidation, since he was well aware that Scaramouche could easily kill him right now. That glare was so incensed that if looks could kill, he'd be burning alive.
But, uh, Childe had a feeling he was having the… incorrect reaction, as a different kind of heat was pooling in his gut the longer he held eye contact with Scaramouche, growing with every second those fingers tightened around his neck.
Or, the Balladeer and Tartaglia can't stand each other; as is custom for harbingers. Everyone in Zapolyarny palace knows the two can't interact without it turning into a full-fledged battle.
Until something unexpected, arises during a 'sparring' match. (Rather, an excuse to beat each other up without the Tsaritsa being displeased with them.)
Because Childe has never managed to win during a spar...
But Scaramouche has never put any thought into wondering why.
