Having completed the many many many shrines, Link was told to go and claim his reward. What happens if it wouldn't come off. Link quickly decides he actually likes being a half Zonai, that's what. This is an AU for 'Aspects of a Hero' by Tashacee because I can't get these scenes out of my head and now it's become much bigger then I ever imagined. I have changed the name of this work as I think it is big enough to deserve its own. This work was once called 'Au Aspects of a hero'.

This was both a well-known fact and a warning, a lesson that the chain had learned the hard way.
So when Hyrule said he had found a recipe he wanted to try, Legend thought his reaction was reasonable.
"Rulie, politely as possible" the veteran pleaded, attempting to dissuade the traveller from commandeering the kitchen, "Fuck no. You can't cook!"
____________________________________Hyrule manages to get himself cooking duties.

Shadow found these people odd. Admittedly, if they all didn't have swords and magic items that were making Shadow's head sore, then he would truthfully think they were harmless, but it seemed pretty obvious that they weren't. Light magic drummed off these people like the sun itself. It reminded him of Link..
LINK! Shadow needs the Four Sword! He darted away from the group again. He needed to learn how to ignore such simple distractions, Zelda was going to wring his neck out when he gets home… but she also wouldn’t appreciate him letting strangers walk to their deaths.
Zelda was NOT going to believe him when he tries to explain that Zelda's Goddess stole him away for a quest instead of Link.
Aka.
Shadow takes Four's place in the chain by complete accident.-

Summary
So here’s the dealio.
Once upon a time a group of time travelling weirdos gave 10 year olds Link and Zelda a shadow crystal thingy so that Shadow’s future Heroic Sacrifice™ might be a little less… sacrificial.
And it was great! For like, more than a decade they all got to grow up together all alive and happy! But things fall apart as they do, and Link died, and some time loop scheme Shadow honestly wasn’t paying that much attention to (he tried, okay?) has been enacted.
Now Shadow’s joined the time travelling weirdos, and one of them is a Link who’s years younger than his who never managed to save his Shadow.
Things are messy. Things are stressy.
But they have a time loop to close to save Shadow and maybe to save Link, and whatever.
He’ll wing it.
What could go wrong?

Summary
It had taken time, but he too had slowly adjusted to his new state, figuring things out through trial and error. He had even learned to value some aspects of his new life, like his ability to ignore the laws of physical world. He had also learned a lot by reading over Link’s shoulder as he dove into research about mirror portals and dark worlds. Yet he had never fully made peace with his inability to interact with the one person who mattered most. The inability to touch or be heard, or even the simple act of having Link look at him rather than through him was a curse of the cruelest kind, perhaps a punishment from the Goddesses for the wickedness he’d wrought upon their land.
It certainly felt like it now, as he watched Link bleeding out beneath him.
