It could happen after years of emotional abuse or gaslighting, or because of escalating physical or sexual abuse. The person being abused reaches a breaking point and responds with aggressive self-defense.
An alternate ending to episode three, where Mob can’t kill himself in time.

Summary
Mob, who finds himself still alive as a human, feels such guilt and emptiness he couldn't help but return to the arms of a being who loved him more than anything. Even when it was unhealthy, even when it was making his fragile state worse, and even when he was crossing lines he never should've crossed with a yellow ball AI.
NOTE: Obviously, this is the Mob character and not the real person. Just wanted to clarify because it might've sounded confusing when referencing the real human past the Minecraft character.
