The only thought running through his head had been the overwhelming need to protect Edwin, to keep them from being ripped apart. The thought of Edwin having to relive the torture of hell while the night nurse poked around in his head, had entirely pushed him over the edge, only coming back to himself, after he had fed the woman to the sea monster. Heaving, Charles turned towards Edwin, barely registering the other two. He only had eyes for his best mate, needing desperately to make sure he was still with him.
There he was, whole and simply there, he sacked with relief. Only to feel something break inside when he saw Niko and Crystals take a collective step back, eying him with trepidation and something bordering on fear, pale and speechless. But before he could spiral and let loose all the words suddenly burning like acid in his throat, Edwin was running towards him, almost throwing himself at him. Capturing him in an all-encompassing hug, desperate and all too relieved. “Charles, Charles…”
Right after Charles feeds the Night Nurse to Angie, Edwin is there for his partner.

“Been through hell...she says,” he almost scoffed. “You have no right to be anywhere near this room, this n…,” Charles quickly bit back the word nest, no need to give her any ammunition against them, “…this mattress!” Inhaling forcefully he tried to keep his rage under control. All his instincts were urging him to rip apart the insolent intruder who had dared to invade their sanctuary. His temper really hadn’t cooled down over the years.

“Ach hotchpotch, no you darlings deserve something else. And just as luck has it, I have found the perfect spell I can gift you with. You see, in my recent scrying sessions I had contact with such a delightful world, the bonds between couples there were just marvelous. They made me think of you two right away.” Now that sounded rather ominous. Edwin and Charles exchanged a quick look, both more than ready to get out, but both fearing for much worse should they deny her.
“And as such, I have found just the spell to bind you even closer to each other.” Smiling sagely to herself, seemingly not noticing the growing restlessness of her guests. “I noticed just how attached you are to each other, running from death, pledging to stay together for all eternity. How romantic.” Edwin inhaled startled, Charles tensed, his hand itching to grab for his cricket bat.
Or in other words, a deal with a witch oftentimes comes with life-changing consequences.

Conan´s breath caught. Their eyes met. There was so much silent wonder in the agents gaze, so much trust and the surety of someone having known with all their being that they could entrust the future of Japan into Conan´s hands and would not be disappointed.
“You really over-estimate me.” So much trust…it ran like goosebumps all over his body, making him suppress a shudder. Moving a bit closer, Conan tried expressing his feelings in the only way he knew how in that moment. He leant against the agent’s side, careful not to jostle the injury. Reaching out he softly laid his hand on Amuro´s uninjured arm, squeezing his wrist.Amuro held completely still, barely breathing, not having expected the voluntary skin contact at all…not after having caused Conan so much pain in the last few days, dragging Kogoro into the investigation. He felt like he could shatter this moment with one breath. But the longer nothing happened, the more the touch burned itself into his skin. Marking him. But then Nunew turned around, smiling at him, about to say something when Zee saw.
His mood turned dark within seconds, moving closer with single focus, brows furrowed. Nunew noticed, leaning his head to the side questioning, looking down at himself puzzled. Not knowing what could have caused that reaction.
“Nu, love, did someone hurt you?” his voice was a dark rumble.

“T…Tin…pl…ease, Tin… H…Help.” The words were distorted and horribly faint, but he recognized the person behind them nonetheless, his heart skipping in his chest, he gripped the steering wheel with brute force, forcible concentrating on staying calm and collected.“PETE?! Pete, what happened?! Where are you?!” His voice demanded answers. Instead, he was only met with a pained whimper. A car rushed past; he was too concentrated on the call to watch the road.
