"Jyn, do you know what you are saying right now?"
Her eyes had closed again, and it almost looked like she was asleep, but she nodded all the same.
"You make me feel safe, Cassian. Didn't you know?" Her speech was slow and slurred. Like she was talking in her sleep.
"Jyn? Jyn, can you open your eyes for me?" He asked, leaning in to caress her cheek.
She complied, and Cassian was met with glassy green eyes, awake, but clearly not alert.
"Why don't you finish the rest of the medicine? Your fever is clearly making you delirious."
She smiled softly before closing her eyes again, while Cassian sat up, about to get out of bed and retrieve the thermos.
"No one's ever taken care of me like this. Not since my parents."

Summary
As Cassian watched her intently, he could not stop the invading thought of a closed office meeting he had with General Draven a mere week ago.
"If Jyn Erso is accepted into our ranks, I hope I do not need to remind you of the rules against fraternization."
Cassian had remained stoic and unmoved by the General's warning, but inside he knew he might be playing with fire.
The rules were more or less guidelines to prevent too many unnecessary issues, but at the end of the day, should anything more than a friendship blossom between him and Jyn, Cassian wouldn't let a little rule get in his way.
After all, it's not like he didn't do his fair share of disobeying authority either.

"And I'm sure you know why no one has made any real moves on her. Kind of hard to ask her out when you are standing right next to her with that scowl on your face."
Cassian glares daggers at him.
"Yeah, that's the one." Melshi confirms, "so you gonna say something to her?"
Cassian sighs, moving to lean against the wall of the ship.
"Say what exactly? Jyn is my friend. Nothing more."
Melshi rolls his eyes. "Yeah, that lie may work with everyone else on base, but not with me. I've known you for years, Andor, and I have never seen you act like this."
Cassian raises his eyebrow at his friend while crossing his arms. "Like what?"
"Like Jyn is the reason you keep going. That she is why you didn't lose hope after your back injury. Or that she's literally the only person who can make you crack a smile, let alone laugh. That you depend on her in a fight even when you constantly worry about her."
"Again, we are just-"
"Don't even try to say the word friends!"
