Summary
Halley thought she would find her salvation in Hogwarts; it gave her warmth, food, and a chance to survive. But when the Chamber of Secrets opens, she learns once again that you can never trust a good thing.
“I have a proposition for you, Miss Potter.”
“What is it?”
“Have you ever been trapped somewhere Halley?” he asked, as he walked around the girl. He knew her eyes were on him and it made Tom feel powerful, like he hadn’t felt in a long while. “And no matter what you do, you can’t be free.”
“It’s torturous, isn’t it?” he asked.
Halley didn’t know what to say. This was a new kind of behaviour, one that she didn’t know how to deal with. The closest she’d come to seeing it was with Dumbledore; placing himself above the conversation by stating all these questions that she was never going to get an answer to.
“I’ve waited an incredibly long time to escape.”
“Is that why you made her open the Chamber?” Halley asked.
“No."

"Why?”
He could see her clearly now. She’d stepped into moonlight, and her Death Eater robes were a stark contrast against the paleness of her face and wildness of her hair. Seeing her in them made him feel sick in a way he couldn’t place. Maybe it was because they suited her. Maybe it was because she looked so at ease in them - her mask in one hand, her wand in the other as she came close.
“Why what?” she asked.
“You’ve never pretended to be stupid." Even if she was pretending about everything else.

The first time she saw him was less than stellar. It was the last tin of that amazing green, and the behemoth man had snatched it and walked to the till so quickly that she could only watch helplessly as he paid and left. Where was the justice in that?
The first time Sam scented her he’d been laying on the ground, twigs and leaves beneath his pelt and the sea breeze blowing his way. He was surrounded by all the sounds that made up the forest, and the voices of his pack working their way in and out of each other’s heads. From where he was he could still see their silhouetted figures dancing throughout the house, making it their own. Her, instinct cooed so quietly he was able to ignore it as a passing interest.
There, as the sounds of the forest cocooned him and the sound of the waves soothed him, he should have listened harder.

That realisation had struck her somewhere between trying to go to sleep in the woods only to wake up with twigs digging into her back and her head on a rock where a pillow would usually be, and seeing the tall lanky pale faced, dark haired, blue-eyed, red-scarf-wearing Merlin.

Since the end of Hundred Years War seven years ago, Fire Lord Zuko has been isolated in the Fire Palace, fending off assassinations and mending the Fire Nation, all while putting off the Fire Sages' demands that he take a wife. When Iroh finally finds him a match to restore relations with the Old Colonies, he reluctantly agrees to the marriage, with the expectation of never speaking to her again and sending her off to Ember Island.
It proves to be more difficult than he expects though, when he realizes that his new wife is as stubborn as a dragon moose.
