Summary
"So...what are you doing for Valentine's Day?" Jackie asks, bouncing on the tip of her toes.
"Uh, jack shit like usual," Nat slams her locker closed.
"I mean...really?" Jackie suddenly looks smaller, her hand rubbing at the back of her neck, "We're not going to do anything?"
"Why would we?" Nat's eyebrows furrow together.
Jackie's face flushes red, and she looks away, "Because it's our first one together."
Nat swears her brain short-circuits, "What?"

Summary
After 18 months in the Canadian Wilderness, Jackie and 7 other survivors leave. The problem is, Jackie can't remember the past year of their time there. Down a few fingers, an ear, and months of memories, Jackie tries to piece everything back together alone, while the others desperately try to make sure their secrets stay buried.
--
“Jack?” Nat murmurs, “How are you feeling?”
“What did we do?” Jackie rasps, “What the fuck did we do?”
Silence. Jackie closes her eyes again, tears leaking out and dripping onto the ground. A hand rests on her arm, and Jackie wants to scream.
“We did what we needed to do to survive,” Lottie whispers.

Summary
“What are you supposed to be?” the girl cocks her head, rustling her bright red hood.
Nat bares her teeth in a bad imitation of a smile. The girl doesn’t look impressed, more amused, as a grin appears on her lips.
“That’s lame,” she comments, “you couldn’t even put, like, some fake blood by your mouth?”

Summary
The Wild is hungry for the warmth of sacrifice.
But Death is primordial. The Wild may have its own fair share of powers, but it is less than a drop of water from a pond compared to Death. The Wild may have shrouded a corner of the earth for itself, but Death needed only a single, tiny crack to push for an opening.
Or,
Jackie dies, then lives-Then finds out she's thrown back to the past and has to figure out how to live again, knowing what the future has in store for her.

Summary
As Jackie swings, it pulls on her wound in a way that sends white-hot lightning throughout her entire body. Her grip on her web slackens, and she falls. On one hand, she was thankfully swinging pretty close to the ground; on the other, she’s apparently God’s favourite little Barbie doll or something, because her trajectory sends her flying directly into a group of trashcans. She crashes, loud and hard, metal ringing and her body throbbing in time with each heartbeat. She groans, just for the dramatics of it. It’s her right. Kicks her feet angrily, feeling somewhat like a toddler, but again - it’s her right. She’s allowed to throw a tantrum after fighting - and winning - against her villain of the week and being stabbed in the stomach.
A gun is suddenly leveled at her face, and her breath catches in her throat. “Oh, shit,” a voice rasps, and her heart skips a beat. She looks past the trembling barrel of the gun to find Natalie Scatorccio staring back at her with wide eyes.
or: jackie is spider-woman. natalie patches her up, and then deals with the consequences.

Bookmarker's Notes
“You could add lightning bolts,” she drily suggests, because it’s stupid and she feels like telling the truth would make her too vulnerable, too pathetic.
Jackie hesitates at that suggestion, a grimace on her face. Still, she jots it down in her notebook, because she’s stupidly kind and considerate and would never want to hurt Nat’s feelings.

Nat didn't want to end up with a random roommate in college and neither did Jackie. They survived being on the same soccer team for four years, so what could possibly go wrong with being roommates for a year?

Bookmarker's Notes
The kiss was warm and focused like Jackie had thought about this moment a thousand times before. When they pulled apart, Jackie rested her forehead against Nat’s. “You’re really bad at seeing what’s right in front of you,” she murmured.
“I know,” Nat breathed. “But I’m getting better.”

Summary
Jackie Taylor is Spider-Man's #1 fan, yet Natalie Scatorccio's #1 hater—it just so happens that Natalie Scatorccio is sometimes Spider-Man.
-
“You know he’s not real, right?” Natalie smirks, leaning forward, daring Jackie to say something.Jackie glares at her, instinctively leaning away, like proximity to Natalie might somehow lower her IQ. Not that it’s working—Natalie just moves, rings clinking and clanging with every tiny motion, obnoxiously loud in the quiet space. Jackie’s eyes flick to them, drawn in like a crow spotting something shiny.
Then, Natalie’s hand moves—to pick up a coffee cup, of all things—and that’s enough to snap Jackie out of it. She scoffs, disgusted with herself. God, get a grip.
“You’re not real,” she mutters, like that somehow means anything.
