My teachers are weird.
They’re constantly at odds, bickering with each other whenever they’re in the same room; but then I’ll see them peacefully sharing lunch in the courtyard, practically thigh to thigh on a bench as Nakajima-sensei blabbers on about something and Akutagawa-sensei listens intently with a certain shine in his eye that only appears around the pale-haired man.

The younger’s gaze flits back, though not meeting the other’s eye, “I… can’t swim. I never learned how, and I’m scared of water. The director…” He trails off, knowing Akutagawa would understand.“Would you like me to teach you?”
Alternatively: Akutagawa learns Atsushi can't swim, so he teaches him how. (Beginning note is important!)

Siblings (and their spouses) can be trying, newborn babies are terrifying, and running into a coworker at the grocery store is at the absolute bottom of Akutagawa’s list of Things He Has The Patience For Today. But, somehow, Akutagawa manages to survive them all, if just barely.

"Um," Atsushi says, lingering by the doorway even as the host beckons him inside with a nod. "Good day, I'm Nakajima Atsushi. I'm here to check out the apartment?"
Piercing gray eyes meet his. "Akutagawa."
Atsushi holds out a hand. "Nice to meet you, Akutagawa-san!"
His future housemate accepts the gesture, pulling away not a second later.
Atsushi tries not to blush.

akutagawa had made a promise to atsushi not to kill. and he hadn’t yet, sort of; he’d only killed small animals to get his fix of blood in the past few weeks, not wanting to take human lives after the agreement he’d made. but it’d been days, and akutagawa was starving, and all he wanted was to sink his teeth into something that would fill him.
he ended up on atsushi’s doorstep before he could rationalize the decision.
