May put a hand over her chest and pressed down against her rapid heart. “Stark, what happened.”
“He was–” Tony started, and then there was shuffling on the other line. Distantly, the sound of crying, and pained, sharp noises.
“Is that him?” May pressed, her head spinning. “What’s happening? You would tell me if my kid got stabbed, wouldn't you? Wouldn't you, Tony?"

They did find him, because Tony wouldn't let himself fail with something so colossally important as keeping Peter Parker safe. The very thought was unthinkable. As long as he breathed, Tony would always find him. Through every impossible degree of separation, Tony would find him, and bring him home.
He just hadn't been fast enough this time.

At the beginning, when it was new, Reed had theorized there must be other universes, many of them, perhaps all of them, where they were close. And so Johnny joked, "What, so we're soulmates?" and Peter gave the ceiling his most affronted lead-paint stare for the following ten minutes.
But much later, when they were sitting in his dorm room, and Johnny was yapping his ear off about some car he had 'rescued' while leaning way too far into his personal space, Peter had to admit. If he had to be stuck with someone for all eternity or whatever, there were worse people to suffer with than Johnny Storm.
(or: Peter slowly coming to terms that he may like Johnny a little more than he really wanted to admit.)

He came to in a pile of debris by the front door they’d so carefully evaded.
“Oh fuck me.” Dick hissed, trying to sit up. He was drenched, banged up and his head was throbbing. He tried to asses the situation. Everything hurt, obviously, but a pounding in his knee started to scream louder than anything else. Dick tried to touch the leg, which was warped to one side, and flinched. It was a familiar feeling, and a bad one.
After a few minutes, he heard a scuffle from above as his sibling descended on their respective grabbling hooks and wings.
“Nightwing is down.” Steph said, into her comms. Dick groaned. He didn’t need more people, least of all Babs, getting into this. “I have eyes on him.”
“Nightwing is not down. Nightwing is just-” Dick tried to get up, sending a sharp spike of pain through his body that forced him back down. “Fuck okay, yeah I’m down.” He muttered, lying back on the pile of trash.

All it takes is a last name and those familiar doe eyes to drag Tony back to a past he swore was dead and buried. Can the two save each other?
