1. There is a great deal more wrong with Rook than he'd realized;
2. He is completely, overwhelmingly not equipped to handle this; and
3. He has to handle it regardless - it's Rook. There is simply no other option.

Hollis is reeling in the aftermath of the attack at the Hornet's Nest, but as a leader, they're trying not to show it. Then Jake shows up, because of course he does. That's the last thing Hollis needs.
At least, that's what they're going to keep telling themselves.

Summary
"Like, yesterday he’d been Duck Newton, a chosen one with a magical guide, fighting skills, a destiny, and an admittedly terrible talking sword. As of now, he was Duck Newton, a dude with a badge, a skateboard, and a mid-life crisis. He at least still had the sword, which honestly wasn’t even much of a bonus."
Duck handles the aftermath of his connection to Minerva being severed like an adult - which is to say that he only spends a couple hours face-down on his living room floor before deciding to go for a walk in an attempt to clear his head. He'd hoped to be left alone in the woods. As it turns out, it's hard to find somewhere to sulk in peace when you're friends with a guy who can see the future.

Summary
Once Hawke left for Skyhold, Fenris decided that tracking down slavers was the best way to keep himself busy enough to fill the void he left behind. That had been the original plan, at least - wander the countryside and kill every last one he could find. Perhaps he shouldn't have been surprised when things didn't quite go as intended. To be completely fair, he had never really been the type that inspired people to rally around him.
Fenris-centric AU set during Inquisition where Fenris finds camaraderie, growth, and family where he least expects it. He might also have inadvertently created a small army of rebels. He's still not sure how that happened.
