Summary
Set after Episode 6, Jax finds himself on borrowed time as he begins to slowly abstract.
Facing oblivion, he must conceal his condition from Caine or risk spending eternity forgotten in the cellar. But when Zooble discovers his secret, keeping everyone at arm's length becomes increasingly difficult, especially as the walls he's spent years building around himself begin to crack.
Haunted by the ghosts of his past, terrified of what comes next, and convinced that he's better off facing it alone, Jax must decide whether survival is worth doing the one thing that scares him almost as much as abstraction: letting other people care about him.
Will a drowning rabbit take the hand offered to him?
Continuity: This is a canon-divergent AU branching from the end of Episode 6, written before the series finale and later canon revelations. As a result, aspects of the characters, their backstories, and the Circus's lore differ from final canon, including Jax's gender identity, ethnicity, and pre-Circus history.
Rewrite: This is a partial rewrite of the original I Don't Wanna Die. Chapters 1–7 are largely preserved from the original version; Chapter 8 onward follows a new continuity.

"I mean, seriously, after everything we've been through, you expect me to just forget about all of that?" he asked, grin widening.
Pomni swallowed, her heart pounding against her ribs.
Jax slowly leaned back, still blocking the door. "I'd rather let this whole circus burn than to still watch you with her," he said, his voice a low hiss. "I know you still love me."
Pomni's frown deepened. "I don't believe you, Jax!" she argued, her voice a strained, trembling plea.
He leaned in. "How many times do I have to remind you? You're mine."
"Jax, you can't do this to me," she said, her voice broken and slightly uneven.
"You know how I feel about her," he snarled. "That makes me fucking crazy. How you look at her-fucking-look at me!" he barked.
"Jax, you can't erase what I saw!" she argued, her eyes slightly glossy with unshed tears.
"And you think that matters now?" he asked, his voice a mocking purr.
