The ghost - David can no longer avoid using the word - looks down at David and frowns. “You’re not Charlie Muir,” she says, disapprovingly, and for a wild moment David feels like maybe he should apologize?
But the ghost continues:
“Rachel said he was a redhead. You’re not a redhead. I like redheads. Dated a redhead back in 1957. Truck driver, worked down at the waterfront. Sweet. Stupid, but sweet. Got himself mixed up with the Gambino family, got cocky, tried to double-cross them with the Genoveses, and, well, all they ever found was his left kneecap floating in the Hudson.” She shrugs. “But we’ve all been there, right?”
David reaches over and pokes Patrick in the shoulder. Hard. “Patrick,” he hisses. “Wake. Up.”
On a visit to New York, David and Patrick stay with Alexis’ friends Charlie and Ian. What could possibly go wrong?
Well, there’s a ghost, for one thing. And she needs their help.
