It was wishful thinking. It had to be the truth. Glinda may not know much but she knew performance, and the more she thought about it the better it fit. Elphaba’s death didn’t make sense. Glinda had seen it with her own eyes and had stupidly believed that was proof it had happened.
Elphaba’s melting shadow had been wearing the hat. Glinda wasn’t sure of the scientification of melting, but surely either all or none of her clothes should have melted. Surely Elphaba herself shouldn’t have melted. Fiyero’s body was missing, and Elphaba’s hat was in her hands.
Glinda stared at herself in the mirror. Her eyes were bloodshot, and she realized she must have been crying. She looked crazy. It didn’t matter.
Elphaba was alive.

Summary
Something in his periphery catches his attention and he turns towards it. And immediately sighs resignedly. “It’s that time, is it?”
“What?” Chloe asks quietly, looking up at him in bemusement. She follows his gaze, searching for what he's looking at. "Who are you talking to?"
But Lucifer’s attention is on the angel who has just appeared beside him, watching him with a sad, remorseful expression on her face. “I’m sorry, Lu.” He doubts anybody else can see or hear her; she can make herself invisible, after all.
His eyes inexplicably sting as he glances at the Detective. “Just…allow me to say goodbye?”
Lucifer dies from the gunshot wound he sustains at Lux in Expire Erect and ends up in a Hell Loop. Chloe needs to talk him through his guilt or he'll be trapped forever. But will her own guilt drag her into the Loop with him?

Pierce arrives first, and Lucifer can only watch through a window as Pierce proposes and Chloe accepts.
Unless ... Lucifer got there first? And had a chance to say a few important things before the other man barged in?
He's promised to tell Chloe the truth. How will she handle celestial revelations, a jackass of an ex, too much coffee, not enough sleep, and Pierce's secrets and lies? (Probably with Maze's tequila.)

A serial killer, a tiny, claustrophobic room at a cheap motel, and a reluctant, skittish partner who used to rule Hell. What can possibly go wrong?
Set after season 3, but disregards the upcoming season 4 and its rumoured plot entirely.

“Tell me what you need, Chloe,” he whispered, without much emotion behind the words. His arms were strong around her, holding her still, upright, an effortless hold. He was rigid, not pliant, and he didn’t melt against her frame more than provide a hard surface to pull her towards.
“You know what I want,” she hissed, anger flooding in. She hated when he made her say it, hated when he reduced her to a mess that wasn’t allowed to beg for what she wanted. She hated it, and that made her love him more for it. He was perfect in that sense. He broke her down perfectly, then put her back together in the way only he knew how to do.

Chloe likes to stop being a functional human from time to time. Lucifer likes to help her out with that. He's always liked games.

Summary
The Detective turns to watch the ship when he says nothing, letting a comfortable silence settle over them. Somehow, with all the things they lost, they kept this one.
Minutes trickle by, and with nothing else to do, his thoughts turn darker. Shaking his head, he considers asking her what bulk food bargains she scoured on her last grocery run, and what she’s making for dinner tonight, and how’s the little urchin doing in school. They don’t need to fill the silence, but he needs her to talk to quiet the warring voices inside his head.
He doesn’t get the chance to do it.
Lucifer hears the screech of the tires just a moment before a car slams into the Detective’s cruiser. It pushes them across the dock and towards the water.

“Wait,” the word escapes her before she realizes it. Her voice sounds small and pitiable, and she hates it. Chloe turns around to look at him. Lucifer is frozen by the door, looking even worse than he did earlier that day, if that’s possible. Uncharacteristically disheveled, one stray shirttail sticking out from under his vest, eyes red with fatigue. Very red. It’s probably the firelight, but it almost looks like they’re glowing with rage.
“Stay, please,” she whispers.

“Did you mean it?” Lucifer asks. The Detective doesn’t look at him. “When you said that we could still work together?”
She nods. Her eyes dart to his and away again. “I did.”
“And the truth doesn’t frighten you anymore?” He means to ask it lightly, but as soon as the words are out of his mouth they dent her floor like bricks.
Her jaw tightens. For a second they stare into each other’s eyes, and then she walks away, towards the door in the living room. “Come on,” the Detective says.
Like pulled by a string, Lucifer follows.

What if Chloe hadn't been unconscious when Lucifer protected her with his wings, and she had seen the wings before she saw his devil face? What if all her friends didn't totally abandon her the second she found out Lucifer had been telling her the truth the whole time? And what if we got to see some of the immediate aftermath, and how Chloe and Lucifer would attempt to explain what the hell happened at this crime scene?
Canon divergence after 3x24. The title is a lyric from the RJA song ‘Cat and Mouse’ that seemed fitting for both halves of Deckerstar.
