Summary
It’s when he sends away a particularly pretty blonde sub with slight bimbo energy that he sees him.
Stood a few feet away from him is an angel wrapped in sheer silk and leather. The angel is leant against the bar, seemingly unperturbed by his surroundings, and the blue and purple lights are bouncing off of his dark curls, painting him in a kind of iridescent glow, like he’s truly an angel. There’s a half-empty martini glass in front of the angel and Nick watches as he stretches his neck to wrap his tongue then lips around the straw, transfixed at the way his throat bobs with his swallows. Nick feels his trousers tighten and finds himself stepping towards the angel before he can properly think.

Summary
In a flash of light yellow scales and dark flowing hair, Charlie swims through the empty expanse of blue, an exuberant smile brightening his features. Tao, looking around nervously, follows his best friend as they approach a kind of dilapidated wooden structure that’s half-buried in the sand. Uncharacteristically, Charlie dives into the structure without hesitation and Tao grumbles.
“I knew I shouldn’t have introduced you to thingamabobs.”
Charlie rolls his eyes fondly as he swims around, looking in every nook and cranny of the structure. “You’ve been saying that since you first took me above the blue.”
“Yeah, because I didn’t realise what it’d lead to!” Tao exclaims, gesturing around them. “Your mother would have my head if she knew!”
“Which is why she’ll never find out,” Charlie replies, then gasps when he sees something glinting at him from below.

Summary
Charlie still remembered being fourteen and watching Nick from the sidelines of the pitch, in his reserve bib, unsure if Nick actually had feelings for him or if he was imagining things. Back then, Nick had seemed larger than life, a shiny, new, golden presence in Charlie’s life. Even so young, he’d wanted Nick in a way that he felt was teetering towards impossible. Yet somehow, the impossible had become his everyday for the last twenty-four years. Nick was still golden - still shone, but it wasn’t as blinding and untouchable as before. It had settled into something warmer, something richer.
It was very easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of their life. Three kids to drop off and pick up on time, rugby matches, piano recitals, swimming lessons and all of the moments in between. But right now, watching his husband coach their oldest, with their middle child happily clinging to his hand while he paced the pitch, their old dog at his feet and their son warm and safe in his arms - this was a kind of happiness that he had never dared hope for.
