“I didn’t want to buy you.” That sounds horrible. Husk tries again. “The listing said I’d get to have Angel’s time, not yours.” That’s even worse. “I-I did it through ValPay—you were supposed to be Angel Dust. I did all the paperwork, I should have booked him for the night, I—”
He must really sound pathetic, because she’s started to look a little sorry for him. “Oh, kitty-cat, you didn’t read the fine print, did you?”
Or: After Angel’s gone back to Valentino for good, a desperate Husk tries to buy him out for the night. He gets a substitute instead.

Summary
They run into each other on the stairs, because opposites attract, or something. Husk’s going down. Angel’s going up. It’s the perfect opportunity. Like fate, if fate was a staircase with water-damaged carpet runners.
Husk notices him first. Must be those cat instincts. He looks surprised, for a second, to see Angel, like he hadn’t expected him, but Angel’s honestly more relieved than anything else. He doesn’t dwell on that, though, he can’t—instead, his mind snaps back into place, runs through all the things it should be saying until it finds the right one:
Where the fuck where you this morning?
You’re kind of being a dick right now.
I’m sorry, please don’t leave me.

“It” could be a lot of things. Some benzos. A horse tranquilizer. Oxy, like his mom used to take. Angel is half convinced that Vox’s breakfast is a cereal mix of uppers and downers, powder in those bright colored-capsules that you give to old people. Things that look a lot prettier than they taste. Not that he has much room to talk. He gets the same shit, just in different packaging.

Angel's not an idiot. All his castles in the air had dissolved decades ago, pink shards of glass scratching his skin deep enough that he never reached for them again. He'd strangled in the cradle every stupid, naive hope that had settled in his heart after the word loser turned into a teasing joke. And he's not about to resurrect them now.
Because, really, if getting cured requires someone (a very specific someone) to not just fuck him, but to be making fucking love with him, to actually mean it, to reach for him with his heart... he's dead.
Period.
