He made a soft startled noise when kissed, like even after everything Rumi told him about love and desire, he hadn’t expected Rumi to go through with it. After a moment, Rumi felt his hands rest on their hips, tentatively, and their kiss softened as they tilted their head to coax his mouth open with their tongue. Peter was warm, and alive, as Rumi’s fingers brushed against the scars from Exandroth’s extra eyes on his cheeks.
They would defy the world with this night. A more rational person might start to guard their heart, having seen visions of what would only hurt in the future. But Rumi took that fear and stared it down, for tonight. For tonight, they had each other. For tonight, fuck the future.

For a split second, it didn’t hurt. He could feel the long spikes impaling his face, sliding in, but the pain took a moment to set in. When it did, he screamed. The scream sounded gurgled and muffled, the close quarters and warm blood already filling his mouth making it impossible to yell loudly. The scream tore at the spikes in his cheeks even more as he screamed, blood spurting out hot against the inside of the box and splashing back against his face.

This is a discontinued work, unfortunately - see second chapter end notes for how I planned on further developing the story :)
It's possible I'm just making this crossover for myself - I'm well aware it's a rather bizarre fandom combination XD I made this because I needed to know how Andrew specifically would react to a device like the Whisperer from MBS, which promises you happiness and temporary security from all your fears in exchange for temporarily ceding control of your mind. This fic references dark topics quickly so if you're coming from the MBS fandom side, be careful and be sure to heed the tags. Hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it :)
