Tommy's father abandoned him and his brother when the boy was twelve years old. For four hard years Wilbur worked without a break to provide for their lives. Four hard years passed before Tommy decided to become a vigilante to save people. And everything was going just great, until in one insanely dark alleyway he stumbled upon a tall villain, the upper half of his face covered with a cloth the color of a starry night.

Rubrum walks the tightrope between hero and villain. Falling one way or the other could be a huge mistake or a great relief, he just has to figure out which way to tilt. He seems to get the attention of villains and heroes even out of costume, so he juggles his identity, past trauma, and emotional baggage over a fire he lit himself.

Too many responses to count flashed through Tommy’s mind. This man was going to kill him, there was no denying that. No denying that Tommy had been stupid. That mantra had gotten him through the night, sure, but it wasn’t true, and now he was going to die.
In the forest, he didn't know what was coming to kill him. Now, though, he knew it would be this man, with his soft cloak and softer eyes, Tommy wasn’t so afraid.
Might as well encourage him to make it quick.
“Because I know where you live, you rebel fuck,” he spat. “I know exactly where we are.”
