The memories of the Melting wouldn’t leave her, and neither did the grief. Glinda tried everything she could to fall asleep: switching rooms, rubbing lavender lotion on her hands, even drinking a foul tasting concoction that one of her handmaidens swore would put her to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow (it didn’t). And even when she did manage to fall asleep sometime just before dawn, Elphaba’s screams jarred her awake.
So one night Glinda found herself sitting at the desk in her study with a blank sheet of paper in front of her. Dear Elphaba, she wrote, and then watched the words waver at the top of the page. She crossed them out and started over. Dearest Elphaba . It was ridiculous. Elphaba would never read her words again. But she found that they came anyway, faster than she could commit them to paper.
Or: Glinda begins writing letters to Elphaba in the aftermath of the Melting. When she pushes herself beyond the point of exhaustion four years later, Chistery decides to take matters into his own hands and deliver the letters to Elphaba in an attempt to save Glinda's life.

Kinger inquired about his whereabouts in a moment of clarity amongst his usual delirium, only to be answered with shaking heads and the clanking of kitchen utensils sounding a little too much like crickets.
or: Jax's self-isolation following the gunfight incident has been getting to everyone, including Pomni. And damn her to hell if she is not going to do something about it.

Summary
After a huge argument with Jax (Felix), Ribbit (Christine) inevitably abstracts, separating the pair for what appears to be eternity.
Christine is shocked to find herself back in the Real World. She successfully escaped the Digital Circus, an achievement only a few people have been able to accomplish. Although she has every right to return to her old life, Christine chooses to re-enter the digital purgatory, motivated by her love for her boyfriend, Felix.
However, the minute she is reincarnated as Pomni, CAINE manipulates her memories, causing her to forget her former life as Ribbit and her relationship with Felix.
In return, Jax’s grief has caused him to grow cold and bitter, causing his worse traits to intensify. As he remembers bits and pieces of his former life with Christine/Ribbit, his bitterness only sharpens, twisting into a dangerous mix of longing and self-destruction.
As Pomni slowly regains her memories, she’ll have a decision to make. Will she reveal her identity to Jax, or will she refuse and remain silent to the person who has become unrecognizable?

His head throbbed, dull and mean behind his right eye. Every jostle of the streetcar sent another pulse of pain through his skull, like someone tightening a screw in slow, deliberate turns. The city's usual morning clatter—bells, wheels, voices—stabbed straight into the center of his brain like needles.
He shifted minutely in his seat, trying to breathe through it. A sharp ache lanced through his ribs, deep and stabbing.
Right, that too.
His suit coat concealed the worst of the bruising, but every bump in the track was a fresh reminder: the fight last night hadn't been clean. He'd won, yes, but the man had gotten his hits in.
Keep it together.
But his thoughts were starting to lag. Everything felt slow. Disconnected. It seemed his mind was three steps behind his body, and both were moving through molasses.
