“Idiot,” he muttered under his breath. The cold evening air nipped at his skin.
He should turn around and go home. Go before someone, or Giyuu himself, saw him. Leave now, and pretend this never happened.
But his feet wouldn’t move. His chest was too tight, his hands too restless at his sides. This feeling that kept him from running wasn’t anger—not anymore—it was something else. Something worse. Something that felt too much like want.
Sanemi dragged a hand over his face, scrubbing hard at his features, trying to physically wipe the feeling away. Before he could think himself out of it any longer, he knocked.
Sanemi confronts Giyuu about the night he ran away from.

He didn’t remember when he had gotten close to the kids, it just happened. Suddenly, he was “Giyuu-san” (or the derogatory use of “Dad” or "Mom" used by Inosuke when he says anything parental-like) to a group of teenagers.
He glanced to his left, where Muichiro was staring off into space, walking beside him. He had spent the night at the water estate again, after showing up, dazed and confused, in the rain. Not that Giyuu minded, he had a few Yukatas and such saved, as well as ready room for him, or the other kids, in his home that he had bought after realizing that having Tanjiro meant attracting whoever else was with Tanjiro. He also wondered how Tanjiro had so many friends, and managed to attract them like flies. But he did enjoy having the kids over, they were a lot to deal with, all in all, but they were sort of nice, they made his Estate livelier and just… better.
OR: Giyuu Tomioka slowly finds himself becoming a parent for the kids around him, and they slowly accumulate at his lovely estate hidden behind the waterfall, because I live for found family and them.
Terms for Giyu might differ at times because I needed to have a Genderqueer character)

He leans slightly forward, so close now that Tomioka's breaths are falling on his face, and uses every single ounce of his Hashira-sharpened senses to listen closely.

Huh. So he is.
Gratification surges through him as he lets out a little chuckle, leaning back so he is no longer nose to nose with him. He must have done a great job fucking him into oblivion if he was still dreaming about him, he thinks. Good.
It's almost cute, he would admit only under pain of death. Tomioka dreaming about him. It's sweet, and-
"Sa...Sabito..."
His train of thoughts gets interrupted as everything goes very, very quiet.
"Sabito..." Tomioka mumbles again, freezing his blood in his veins.

He knew the difficulties that came from being, not only the elder but also legally responsible for his brother, he knew it since he accepted taking care of Genya and having him move in when he started living in another city. He was also familiar with the responsibility of being a good example figure, as a brother and as a teacher. And even if you can't be prepared for everything that comes with that kind of responsibility, he was determined to make the best of himself for Genya, his brother, and each one of his students.
So, yes, Sanemi Shinazugawa felt prepared to confront any problem he had to face, but when it came to his brother’s sweetheart… that’s it, Sanemi hasn’t signed for this.

Synopsis:
Giyuu had no idea if it was his place to make such an offer, but the Uzuis had been trying for a pup for so long that their hope had begun to fade. It wasn't as if Giyuu himself was getting any younger, or had a pack of his own to start a family with. So if his body could help bring them the happiness they'd been longing for, then perhaps it was worth the risk. He just hadn't expected his quiet act of kindness to change all their lives so completely.
Aka:
The author had a brain worm because it's canon that Giyuu was one of the first people to hold the Uzui's baby and thought, "What if he had the baby instead?"...and it all spiraled from there.

Genya seemed like him. His anger was fear, a shield he used. It wasn't his core like his brother and the other hashira who had tried to help him.
Maybe, just maybe, that would be enough for Giyuu to make a difference where they hadn't.
Or: Genya becomes Giyuu's tsugoku. Sanemi does not approve.

The hatred between Tanjiro and Sanemi is obvious, blistering and painful. They barely speak, can barely even look at each other if they’re both in the same room, which has become more common as Tanjiro has climbed the ranks of the corps. Giyuu heard through the grapevine— Tengen, ever the gossiper— that they got into a huge fight during training, which led to Sanemi permanently banning Tanjiro from the Wind Estate. It’s a nasty, ongoing battle. They can’t stand each other.
