“What could work?” Alastor asked, spinning around and looking absolutely delectable in that shade of pink.
“You are working it, old man,” Velvette replied with a snap of her manicured fingers. “You just keep standing there and let me work my magic.”

Then his brother was slipping onto the bench, hip-checking Knives the same way he always did back when they were children, nearly pushing him off of the narrow seat.
And then his fingers joined Knives' on the keyboard, launching into a melody mid-bar. Perfect match to Knives' own, slightly overpowering at first since Knives’ part was still fainter with surprise, while still letting the original melody shine through....
Oh, how Knives had missed the way it felt to play alongside his twin.
It may have ruined a part of his plan, and derailed it for the time being but… It could wait.

Robin slowly lowered the tablet with his powerpoint presentation and looked up at Red Hood.
“You care about Gotham,” Robin summarised. “Gotham needs Batman. Batman is missing and so is Nightwing. We need you to fill in for Batman.”
“You want me to cover Batman’s patrols?” Jason clarified.
“No,” Robin said. “I want you to be Batman.”
Jason bluescreened.
(Or: Batman and Nightwing mysteriously disappear before Red Hood has even started antagonising them, Robin is desperate, Gotham needs Batman, and Red Hood is Batman-Shaped.)

Warden’s boots fall heavier than Sir’s dress shoes, Dream knows both sounds by heart. Thick soles clack against the obsidian as he crosses into the cell, practically marching towards Dream’s knelt form.
Dream keeps still, head bowed, not daring to look upon Warden’s face. Warden rarely visits, especially not after Sir started his training sessions, and Dream wouldn’t want to disappoint him.
The gas mask on Warden’s face amplifies the sound of his breathing, quick huffs of warm air, and finally he speaks. “You have a visitor today.”
Or, after months spent in prison, Dream gets a proper visitor.
