A hard yank sent her careening to the right. She crashed into the hard shell of his body armor.
“Ow,” she said.
“Yeah,” said Frank, gripping her wrist just on the edge of too tight before letting go. “I upped the security since the last time someone was in my head. What’re you doing here?”

Summary
In Peter’s line of work, despite his constant attempts at trying to stop it, death was unbearably common. He had always been told that the loved ones who slipped from his fingers left with seven minutes of happy memories.
As Jean’s face became blurry in front of him, he hoped that his were good.
He wasn’t sure if he had that many.

Summary
After being told how beautiful and special she is and how she is never alone in this world, that she will always have a certain pitiful-looking, messy-haired Peter Parker to turn to, Jean Grey watched as a bullet meant to kill her pierced that boy's back and left him a bleeding half-corpse in Frank Castle's arms. She followed them, to keep Peter alive, to deny the universe's next attempt at telling her she deserved nothing. But as she sat twelve floors below Spider-Man's fading mind, Jean realized no shallow telepathic trickery can stop his heart from hemorrhaging into oblivion. She needed to plunge deeper into his self... to the point they become one and his heart and blood trick themselves into thinking they beat and circle for her...
She told herself she's not invading his mind, just his everything else. She will not dig around for anything. Just here to keep her savior alive... Peter's memories brought themselves to her regardless. And this time she had no choice but to watch as they drift by... And some of them are very embarrassing as well.

Summary
The whole time Team MZ was in operation, they saw reaching Rank A and stopping Ange as the ultimate goal, the end. None of them had ever thought about what came after. None of them had ever considered there'd be more to do when it was over, and with AZ gone, there is so much left to do.
Taunie tells herself she's fine. She's done this before, she can do it again. She can go through the motions, grin and bear it until it's over. But she's not alone this time, and that just might make it harder.
__Or, Team MZ rebuild Lumiose, and themselves, in the aftermath of Ange. Recovery's a long road, but they'll get through it together. PaxTau centric, but found family all the same.

Summary
It started when Ralsei looked her in the eye and told her, with all the sincerity of a promise, that he wasn’t real.
It didn’t end when she cradled Ralsei’s face in her hands, staining them both with the remnants of what she supposed had been a poor imitation of the old man’s genuine belief in an undecided future.
The story doesn’t yet have an end. Susie doesn’t want it to ever.

She practices smiling in the bathroom mirror. A real smile. The kind that reaches her eyes and changes the shape of her whole face.
It feels awkward, like wearing clothes that don't quite fit. But when she thinks about Bob's cactus growing a new flower, about the way Ava's eyes crinkle when she laughs, about Skittles and soft hoodies and the freedom to sleep until 10 AM, the expression comes a little easier.

Summary
A house is a body.
It sighs in the lonely hours with the settling of its bones, groans under the weight of a summer storm. It holds its breath when strangers cross the threshold. This one had been holding its breath for a very long time.
Antonia felt it the moment she stepped out of the car, a pressure against her ears as if she were sinking into deep water. This air was alive, and it did not like them.

Ava’s smile widened, and it was like the sun coming out from behind a particularly gloomy cloud. She rose gracefully to her feet, extending a hand. Her fingernails were painted a dark, glossy red. “Nice to finally meet you, Antonia. Yelena talks about you.”
