The newfound peace caught him by surprise, but not as shocking as seeing Ratchet, the notoriously grumpy hardworking medic, finally enjoying a carefree life.
With no duties, or faction wariness between them, Drift hoped that maybe they could rekindle a lost friendship. This time, he wouldn’t ask for more than what Ratchet could give him.
Ratchet biggest regret was letting go of Drift once. Now that he’s returned, his spark (and also his best friend Wheeljack) kept screaming at him to shoot his shot. He was determined to do just that, but fear and cowardice struck him the moment they met again. Yes, he still loved Drift, but Ratchet had hurt him too. What rights does he have to take him back?

Summary
A hundred years after the Decepticon victory at the end of the great civil war of Cybertron, Shockwave begins a new, rather indulgent scientific test.
The purpose of the Re-Forge experiment is to see if a spark taken from a purpose-built cold construct mech can be put into a new protoform and naturally form a new frame according to its innate coding, and to investigate how similar or different the resulting mech might be, physically and mentally, from its former incarnation.
The spark of the captured Autobot officer Prowl, previously stored in stasis, is an ideal candidate for this experiment, since much is already known about the mental characteristics he exhibited as a cold construct.
Reborn with the frame he was always meant to have, and with no memory or awareness of his past existence, the spark of Prowl begins a new incarnation of life as a Decepticon and chooses a name for himself, Venator.
Following an assasination, Venator is sent to track and capture the last Autobot known to still remain free, Jazz.

But Starscream isn’t scared. He can’t be. He refuses. He’s done this a million times before, walked the worlds in more bodies that he can count, each one itchier and stranger feeling than the last.
(Maybe that’s what’s so unsettling about it. No matter what he does, no matter which wings or what color armor or where each new plate attaches, there’s never been a frame that doesn’t feel wrong. That doesn’t give him that icky, sickly sensation of having been built. That he knows he’s incorrect. Or maybe that’s the internalized functionism talking.)
