Buck pinches his nose and moans in pain, his head staticky, throbbing painfully. What the fuck happened? The air tastes vaguely of spice and citrus, and he breathes it in. Stomach turning violently as he crawls about a foot or two before collapsing, face first into carpet of little white, glowing flowers dotting the ground beneathe him. He wheezes out, chest tight as he follows the trail of plants up the walls and over the ceiling with his eyes. Something— Something feels wrong about this.

Hen looks between the two of them, blinking open-mouthed like she’s watching a mating ritual on the Discovery Channel. “My God, they’re soulmates.”

“You’ve spent the last twenty-four hours implying that I killed my husband,” Eddie snapped, sounding a little feral to his own ears, “you refused to help me, refused to listen to me, and now you want us to be separated? Would you ask a straight couple to separate? Isn’t it a legally recognised right to be with your partner during times of duress?” Eddie was absolutely lying on that last point, he had no idea if that was true. He knew they couldn’t be called to testify on each other, but, more to the point, they weren’t even married.
Buck didn’t speak, he stared at Eddie with big eyes, like he was waiting to wake up in some cage all over again.
“I’ve been through hell today to get him back, I am not leaving him alone with some backwater, homophobic asshole of a police force for another second.”
“Mr Diaz, I hope you realise I could have you arrested for—”
“For what? Being rightfully protective? Does your town have the money for a Hollywood discrimination suit? Because his step-mother is an LAPD sergeant and I am feeling extremely litigious.”

Dear Eddie,
You probably have a lot of questions. I’ll get to answering them later. But first, let me paint you a picture.
Imagine a little child, growing up in the depths of suburban Pennsylvania. They have no real friends, only their older sister. They have plenty of toys that were once said sister’s, including a collection of Barbies.
Among these Barbies is a singular Ken. The child pays special attention to him. While their parents are wondering why the child isn’t obsessed with changing the Barbies into a thousand and one dresses, they take a pink marker and draw a birthmark on the side of Ken’s left eye. They keep Ken hidden from everyone else and only bring him out when no one’s around, to look at him long and hard, mesmerized.
If you haven’t guessed yet, I am that child.
____OR Buck just wants to finally have an established partner in field at the 118. He doesn't expect the new hire to be the guy he'd dated back in college, before he dropped out and came out.

Ravi moves his hand over the passenger side window and he stumbles back tripping on his own two feet. ‘’Shit!’’ He yells.
‘’Ravi!’’ Buck yells running on the other side of the car where Ravi is hyperventilating, hands on his knees trying to catch some breath. ‘’W-what happened?’’
Ravi just manages to point to the window before he pukes his guts out. Buck glances back and he can feel his heart beat faster as he reaches for the radio.
‘’Cap, I think we need to call ‘Thena for this one.’’

Eddie’s heart hammers in his chest as he realizes exactly what Buck’s asking of him. Suddenly, he understands why Buck’s being all hesitant and evasive in the way he answers. Because Buck’s asking Eddie to check in with him because he’s meeting a Dom and not a date. A Dom that’s not him.
Or, Buck asks Eddie to be his safe call person when he goes to meet a potential scene partner. He never ends up making it past the front door.
